Black Sherif Legal Dispute Ends as Court Dismisses Most Claims by Ex-Manager
Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif has secured a major legal victory in his ongoing dispute with his former management company, Charvis Wayne’s Consult, after the High Court (Commercial Division) dismissed the majority of claims brought against him.
The case, formally styled Shadrach Owusu Agyei vs Mohammed Ismail Sherif, reached a decisive judgment on January 16, 2026, when Her Ladyship Justice Afia Adu-Amankwa ruled that most of the allegations lacked sufficient evidence. While the court acknowledged that a management contract once existed between the parties, it found that the plaintiff failed to substantiate key complaints about financial losses, unaccounted revenue, and other claimed damages.
Although the judge noted a technical breach of contract due to Black Sherif’s engagement with a third party during the contract period, the court emphasized that no substantial financial loss was proven. As a result, only nominal damages of GH¢50,000 were awarded, with all major reliefs sought by the former manager dismissed.
The court also ordered GH¢15,000 in legal costs, covering reasonable expenses incurred by Black Sherif’s defence. With this outcome, the lengthy legal battle between the award-winning artist and his ex-management team appears to be closed.
Black Sherif, known for hits such as “Kwaku the Traveller,” continues to focus on his music career and international engagements following this legal triumph.
