Sista Afia

Ghanaian singer Sista Afia has apologised to dancehall star Stonebwoy, his team and his fans after her public request for a verse on her new song “BOSSIT” drew criticism online. In a post on X on Monday, October 12, 2026, the singer said she never meant any disrespect and insisted there is “no bad blood” between her and the Bhim Nation boss.

What started as a playful call for a collaboration quickly turned into a debate about how artistes should approach each other for features. Here is how it unfolded.

How the Stonebwoy Request Started

Over the weekend, Sista Afia took to social media to tell fans she wanted Stonebwoy on her new record, “Boss It”. She asked her followers to help her get his attention by tagging him repeatedly.

“Somebody tag Stonebwoy until he sees this!” she wrote, adding that she needed his verse on the song “soo bad.”

As fans joined in, she posted again to thank them for the support. “Chale, the love y’all are showing on here to make this FT happen is CRAZYYY!” she wrote, tagging the dancehall act and adding, “IGAD oo! We need this one!”

Why Some Fans Were Not Happy

Not everyone enjoyed the campaign. Some members of Stonebwoy’s fan base, popularly known as BHIM Nation, felt the public tagging was the wrong way to approach an established artiste.

Critics argued that she should have reached out to Stonebwoy or his management privately through the proper channels instead of turning the request into a social media push.

Others questioned whether the song was a good fit for the dancehall star, while some saw the move as a publicity tactic to create buzz around the record.

Sista Afia Says Her Words Were Taken Out of Context

Before issuing the apology, Sista Afia responded to the criticism by saying her post had been misunderstood. She explained that she had no intention of disrespecting Stonebwoy or skipping proper industry procedures.

She also pointed out that she has openly expressed interest in working with other artistes in the past, so the Stonebwoy request was nothing unusual for her. “I’m a big Stonebwoy fan, and he knows that,” she said.

The Apology in Her Own Words

On Monday, the singer went further and offered a direct apology to anyone who may have been offended.

“If my approach made Stonebwoy, his team, or anyone feel disrespected, I sincerely apologise. That was never my intention,” she wrote on X.

She explained that the request came from a place of admiration and stressed that there was “no bad blood, no shade, and no hidden agenda” behind it.

She also urged fans to calm down and not read too much into the matter. “Let’s not turn a simple request for a collaboration into a narrative of disrespect,” she added.

Has Stonebwoy Responded?

As of the time of writing, Stonebwoy and his team have not publicly responded to the request or to Sista Afia’s apology. It remains unclear whether the collaboration will happen.

Stonebwoy has stayed in the headlines in recent weeks. Earlier this month, Shatta Wale performed “Putuu” at ShattaFest in Ho and declared that no one could stop him from loving Stonebwoy.

Sista Afia and Big Collaborations

Sista Afia is no stranger to working with big names. Over the years, she has teamed up with several top acts, including Shatta Wale and Afezi Perry on “Jeje,” Medikal and Quamina MP on “Weather,” Kelvynboy on “Conner Conner,” and Kuami Eugene on “Asuoden.”

She has also worked across borders. Her 2020 song “Paper” featured Nigerian singer Victor AD and earned a nomination for International Collaboration of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards.

More recently, she teamed up with rapper Amerado on “2 Things” in 2024. Her track record shows she has long been open to collaborations, which may explain why she felt comfortable making her request in public.

A Familiar Industry Debate

The episode has reopened a common conversation in Ghanaian showbiz: should artistes chase features publicly or keep such talks private? Some fans see a public request as harmless fun that builds excitement, while others feel big names deserve a formal approach through their teams.

Sista Afia has spoken in the past about the challenges female artistes face in the industry, and many of her fans see her campaign as simply a bold attempt to make a dream collaboration happen.

What Next for “BOSSIT”?

For now, fans will have to wait to see whether Stonebwoy hears the call. Whether he jumps on the record or not, the conversation has already put a spotlight on Sista Afia’s new song.

The singer has made her position clear: she admires Stonebwoy, she meant no harm, and she wants the focus to stay on the music. If the collaboration does happen, it could be one of the more talked-about Ghanaian features of the year.
