Medikal Warns Men Against ‘Salomey’ Visits, Recalls Being Held at Gunpoint at a Woman’s House

Medikal warns men against ‘Salomey’ visits, recalling how a gun was pointed at him at a woman’s house, amid the Nana Yaw Kyere case debate in Ghana.

Medikal

Ghanaian rapper Medikal has warned men to think twice before spending nights at women’s homes, a habit popularly called going for “Salomey” in Ghanaian slang. In a video now circulating on social media, the award-winning hip hop star says a past visit to a woman’s house almost cost him his life after a gun was pointed at him and he was forced to kneel and plead.

His comments come at a time when many Ghanaians are still talking about the death of Circle phone dealer Nana Yaw Kyere, a case that has put the “Salomey” lifestyle under heavy public scrutiny.

What Medikal Said

In the clip, which was shared widely on X on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, after first appearing as a TikTok video, Medikal told his followers that “Salomey” visits are not worth the risk.

He recalled an incident from years ago when he went to see a woman at her residence. According to his account, things turned dangerous when someone pulled a gun on him and ordered him to go down on his knees.

The rapper said he had to beg for his life in that moment. He used the experience to caution other men, especially young men, to be careful about where they go and who they visit at night.

Medikal did not name the woman, the location or the year of the incident. He also did not say whether he reported the matter to the police at the time.

What Does “Salomey” Mean?

In Ghanaian street slang, “going for Salomey” usually describes a man sneaking off to a woman’s house, often late at night, for a romantic visit. The phrase is used jokingly online, in songs and in everyday conversation.

In recent weeks, however, the joke has taken on a more serious tone. Many social media users have been sharing warnings about personal safety, and Medikal’s story has added a celebrity voice to that conversation.

Why the Warning Is Trending Now

The timing of Medikal’s message is no accident in the eyes of many fans. Ghana has been following the case of Nana Yaw Kyere, a 33-year-old phone dealer who worked at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra.

According to police, Kyere left his home at Kokomlemle on September 19, 2026, and did not return. He was reported missing on September 22. Police say a partially burnt body found at Community 18 near Tema on September 21 was later identified by his mother and uncle as his.

Three suspects were arrested in connection with the case, and police say investigations are ongoing. The allegations have not yet been proven in court.

Some reports and social media posts claimed Kyere went to Teshie for a romantic meeting. His sister, Maame Sika Edem, has disputed that version, saying her brother went there to deliver a phone as part of his business.

It is important to note that Medikal did not link his own experience directly to the Kyere case. His story is a separate incident from years ago.

How Social Media Is Reacting

Medikal’s warning has drawn a mix of reactions online. Many fans praised him for using his platform to speak about safety, saying a message from a popular artiste is more likely to reach young men than a lecture from parents or teachers.

Others turned the conversation into banter, as often happens with “Salomey” talk on Ghanaian social media. Still, a large number of comments pointed back to the Kyere case and urged people to always let family or friends know where they are going.

Medikal is not the first entertainer to comment on the wider issue. Actress Akuapem Poloo earlier posted on Instagram that “Ghana is bleeding” and called for justice after news of Kyere’s death broke in late September.

Who Is Medikal?

Medikal, born Samuel Adu Frimpong, is one of Ghana’s best-known rappers. He rose to fame in the mid-2010s and has since released hit songs such as “Too Risky”, “Omo Ada” and “Shoulder”, his collaboration with Shatta Wale and Beeztrap KOTM.

He is known for speaking his mind on social media and often shares parts of his personal life with fans. His catalogue also includes reflective songs like “My Story” and recent collaborations such as “Long Distance” with Abochi.

This latest video is a rare moment where the rapper has opened up about a frightening personal experience rather than his music or relationships.

A Simple Safety Message

Beyond the jokes, Medikal’s message is simple: be careful about where you go, especially at night, and do not put your life at risk for a casual visit. Safety advocates often add that people should share their location with someone they trust and avoid meeting people they barely know in private places.

Final Word

Medikal’s near-death story has struck a chord because it arrives at a moment when many Ghanaians are already worried about personal safety. Whether fans take it as a joke or a serious lesson, the rapper’s message is clear: no “Salomey” visit is worth your life. Halmblog will keep following reactions as the conversation continues.
