afia schwarzenegger banned from social media

Socialite and controversial social media personality, Afia Schwarzenegger has been banned from social media for 24 months (2 years) and in addition fined Ghc 60,000.00

This decision was reached following the Tema High Court’s adjudication of a case filed by the Ashanti Regional Chairman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi for defamation.

Chairman Wontumi as he is popularly known sued Afia Schwarzenegger, Nana Ama McBrown (host of UTV United Showbiz show) Kwame A-Plus and others last year for a televised show where the complainant accused these persons of defamation.

Afia Schwarzenegger at the time, allegedly remarked on the show accusing Chairman Wontumi of a sexual affair with her but these accusations were emphatically denied by the NPP Ashanti regional chairman.

The Court ruled that Afia Schwarzenegger must not engage in any social media activity for a period of 2 years and as well pay a fine of GhC 60,000.00.

Some reports indicate that the socialite is still in Police custody.

Some social media users (Twitter) have expressed joy at this news, suggesting next celebrities to face such bans and charges.

Others however think social media reaction to the news is a pure schadenfreude.
