Kofi Sarpong expressed that he had no desire for fame
Ghanaian Gospel musician Kofi Sarpong has revealed how he was compelled to pursue a music career against his initial reluctance, driven by his dedication to his job as a police officer.
He shared that he initially resisted the persistent efforts of his current manager, Kwesi Ernest, to enter the music industry. After a church performance, Kwesi proposed they go to the studio, but Kofi declined, citing his commitment to police work and questioning how it could align with his role as a deputy superintendent of police.

Despite his resistance, Kwesi Ernest continued to pursue Kofi, even sending multiple individuals to persuade him. Eventually, Kofi relented after his manager emphasized his belief in Kofi’s talent and expressed a desire for the world to witness it.
Kofi then sought approval from the Inspector General of Police to pursue music alongside his police duties. Upon receiving the green light from the IGP, Kofi felt immense relief and informed his manager, who enthusiastically began their musical journey immediately.
The turning point came when Kwesi Ernest arrived at Kofi’s door with Akwaboah Jnr and a piano, ready to start their first song. This marked the beginning of Kofi Sarpong’s successful music career, with their first song being rehearsed on the same day.
