TikTok star Asantewaa says she left husband Jeffery Obiri Yeboah as both carry the sickle cell trait, insisting they split before AMG Armani came along.

Asantewaa

Ghanaian TikTok star Asantewaa has finally given her side of one of social media’s most talked-about relationship stories. In a post that went viral on Monday, October 12, 2026, the content creator explained that she walked away from her marriage to Jeffery Obiri Yeboah because they both carry the sickle cell trait, and she insisted the marriage was over long before rapper AMG Armani entered her life.

Her explanation has quickly become one of the biggest talking points online in Ghana this morning, reopening a conversation about genotype, marriage and the pressure that comes with living your love life in public.

What Asantewaa Said

According to ZionFelix, which reported the post was shared on Snapchat, Asantewaa said she and Jeffery discovered they were both sickle cell carriers. That finding, she explained, made her worried about having children with him.

She made it clear that her former husband did nothing wrong. “I only decided to walk away because we are both SC carriers and he was still insisting we continue with the marriage,” she reportedly wrote.

Asantewaa added that the issue is deeply personal for her. She said she has lost three siblings to complications of sickle cell disease and did not want to repeat the choices her parents made. In her words, she “couldn’t fathom giving birth to SC knowingly.”

“He tried all possible means”

The TikToker said Jeffery did not want the marriage to end. She claimed he “tried all possible means to not let me go” and did not inform his family about the separation, instead telling them that all was well.

Separate reports quoted her as saying she had not been with him for three years before the matter became public. “I respect my ex-husband so much, but Mr Obiri and I were both AS, and I didn’t want my children to be SS,” she is quoted as saying. She also said Jeffery wanted the couple to adopt, but that was not something she wanted.

“Separated Way Before Armani”

The most direct part of her message was about timing. Many fans have long assumed that Asantewaa’s relationship with AMG Armani was the reason her marriage ended. She pushed back firmly on that idea.

“We were separated way before Armani came into the picture,” she wrote, according to ZionFelix. She linked her later relationship with the rapper to his genotype, presenting it as a way around the concerns she had about starting a family with Jeffery.

Quick Facts

  • Who: Asantewaa (real name Martina Dwamena), Ghanaian TikTok star and content creator
  • Former husband: Jeffery Obiri Yeboah
  • Former partner: Rapper and businessman AMG Armani
  • Reason given for leaving: Both she and Jeffery carry the sickle cell trait (AS genotype)
  • Her claim on timing: She says they separated before Armani came into her life
  • When: Her post went viral on October 12, 2026

Why the Genotype Question Matters

Asantewaa’s reason touches on a topic many Ghanaian couples discuss before marriage. When two people who both carry the sickle cell trait (AS) have a child, there is a 25% chance in each pregnancy that the child will have the SS genotype, which is sickle cell disease.

There is also a 50% chance the child will be a carrier (AS) and a 25% chance the child will have the AA genotype. That is why genotype testing is often encouraged for couples before they marry or plan a family.

A Difficult Few Months in Public

The new post adds another chapter to a story that has played out openly on social media this year. In July, Asantewaa told fans that she was the one who ended her relationship with AMG Armani, and said she was focused on her children and her peace of mind.

Earlier this month, she returned to the headlines after joining online conversations about the alleged incident involving actress Nana Akua Addo and her husband Harold Norman. In Snapchat posts reported by YEN.com.gh on October 6, she claimed Armani once locked her outside for a whole night, and said she had returned the Benz he gave her as a push gift.

Armani did not directly address those claims at the time. He shared a TikTok video of himself driving, which drew mixed reactions from fans. The rapper later released a song titled “Thanks”, which some reports link to the public back-and-forth about the relationship.

How Fans Are Reacting

The post has spread widely across TikTok, Snapchat and other platforms, with many users sharing it and debating her reasons. Some fans see her explanation as a responsible decision about the health of future children. Others feel the full story of the marriage is still not known.

As of the time of writing, neither Jeffery Obiri Yeboah nor AMG Armani had publicly responded to Asantewaa’s latest comments.

Who Is Asantewaa?

Asantewaa, born Martina Dwamena, rose to fame during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 with funny and relatable TikTok videos. She worked as a teacher and a mobile money vendor before social media fame.

In 2021, she was named TikTok Influencer of the Year at the Pulse Ghana Influencer Awards. She has since become one of the most recognisable content creators in Ghana, known for skits and for helping promote Ghanaian songs.

Final Word

With this post, Asantewaa has placed the focus of her story on health and family planning rather than on rumours. Whether Jeffery or Armani will respond remains to be seen, but her message has already started a wider conversation about knowing your genotype before marriage. Halmblog will keep following the story.
