‘If You Don’t Fill It, You Don’t Fill It’ – Sarkodie Unbothered by O2 Arena Pressure, Speaks on Jollof Saga

Sarkodie says he won’t stress if his 2027 O2 Arena show doesn’t sell out, talks the jollof saga with Stonebwoy and teases a bigger Rapperholic Kumasi.

if you don’t fill it, you don’t fill it – sarkodie unbothered by o2 arena pressure, speaks on jollof saga

Sarkodie

Sarkodie says he is not losing sleep over whether he can fill London’s O2 Arena. In a new conversation with broadcaster Serwaa Amihere, the Ghanaian rap star brushed off talk that his 2027 Rapperholic show at the 20,000-capacity venue could fall short, saying simply: “If you don’t fill it, you don’t fill it.”

The clip, which started circulating on X on Thursday, October 16, 2026, has since become one of the most talked-about Ghanaian showbiz moments of the weekend. In it, Sarkodie also returns to the long-running “jollof” jokes linked to his feud with Stonebwoy and speaks about his upcoming Rapperholic concert in Kumasi.

What Sarkodie Said About the O2 Arena

Serwaa Amihere asked the rapper, whose real name is Michael Owusu Addo, what he would do if the O2 Arena did not sell out.

Sarkodie answered calmly. He said there was nothing he could do about it, and that he would accept the outcome either way.

“I am one of the most bashed artistes in Ghana. If you don’t fill it, you don’t fill it,” he said.

His relaxed response has been read by many fans as a sign that he is not feeling the pressure that often comes with booking one of the biggest arenas in Europe.

A big step up from the Royal Albert Hall

The O2 date is a major leap for Sarkodie’s Rapperholic brand in the UK. Earlier editions of the London show were held at the Royal Albert Hall, which holds about 5,200 people. Early this year, the rapper celebrated after Rapperholic UK sold out in one week.

The 2027 edition is scheduled for Saturday, March 6, 2027, which is also Ghana’s 70th Independence Day. The show is being promoted as a celebration of Ghanaian culture abroad.

The timing is notable. Nigerian star Asake has just sold out the same venue for a third time, and comparisons between Ghanaian and Nigerian acts on the London arena circuit have been a hot topic online.

Sarkodie Revisits the Jollof Saga

The conversation also touched on the jollof rice jokes that have followed Sarkodie for weeks.

How the jollof talk started

In September, Stonebwoy recounted that Sarkodie had visited his home to apologise after an earlier incident between the two, and that Sarkodie was served jollof during the visit. The story quickly turned into memes. Shatta Wale joined in by playfully calling Sarkodie “Sark Jollof Lord”, and old social media posts by actress Yvonne Nelson that mentioned jollof also resurfaced.

“I couldn’t say no to the jollof”

Speaking to Serwaa Amihere, Sarkodie pushed back against people telling him how he should behave.

“I am not a kid for people to start pointing fingers at me, telling me what to do,” he said.

He also addressed the meal itself with a touch of humour: “I couldn’t say no to the jollof.”

Sarkodie hinted that there is more to the story than what has played out online, saying that one day they would write a book about it. He did not give further details.

Rapperholic Kumasi Is “Way Bigger” This Year

Before London, Sarkodie heads to the Garden City. Rapperholic returns to Kumasi on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the same venue that hosted last year’s Kumasi edition.

Sarkodie told Serwaa Amihere that the reception he got at his first Rapperholic show in Kumasi was special, and that the city’s support shaped this year’s plans.

“Kumasi showed Sarkodie love, and this year we have gone way bigger,” he said, adding: “We have opened the space, so it is going to be amazing.”

He has been building excitement for the show on social media, telling fans in a Facebook post: “KUMASI, THIS IS YOUR OWN.” He also wrote that on October 24, Baba Yara “won’t just be a stadium… IT’LL BE THE CENTER OF GHANA.”

The clip has also kept the Sarkodie and Stonebwoy conversation alive, even as both artistes push ahead with their own projects.

A Busy Season for Sarkodie

The O2 talk comes during a packed period for the rapper. He recently announced a five-track ‘DeJaVu’ EP set for November 27, and he has already released the first single, “Deja Vu”, featuring KiDi.

With Kumasi next weekend and London in March, Sarkodie is clearly betting big on live shows. Whether the O2 sells out or not, his message to critics is clear: he will do the work and let the results speak.
