Broda Shaggi
Popular Nigerian comedian and skit maker Broda Shaggi has finally explained why he vanished from social media for months. In a new mini-documentary titled Second Chance (The Story), released on his YouTube channel, the entertainer revealed that he was hit by a stray bullet in Sango-Ota, Ogun State, in March 2026, an incident that led to surgeries in Nigeria and Dubai and a long, painful recovery.

What Happened to Broda Shaggi?
Broda Shaggi, whose real name is Samuel Animashaun Perry, said the incident happened after a work engagement, as he and his team were heading home.
“We were done shooting and were on our way when we got stuck in a holdup,” he recalled in the video. “Suddenly, I heard a loud bang and everywhere went silent.”
He said he could see people talking around him but could not hear anything. “Then I touched my hip and saw blood,” he added. “That was when it dawned on me that I had been hit by a stray bullet.”
“I Didn’t Want to Die”
The comedian said the moments after the shooting were frightening. According to Premium Times, he said he blacked out and only came to at the hospital.
“I didn’t want to die. I just don’t want to die,” he said, describing his thoughts as he was rushed for treatment.
From Emergency Room to Surgery in Dubai
Broda Shaggi explained that the first hospital he was taken to gave him first aid but did not have the equipment to treat him fully. He was then moved to a second hospital, where he was admitted to the emergency room.
He had surgery in Nigeria, but it did not bring back movement to his injured leg. He later travelled to Dubai, where he was examined by a doctor and went through another surgery.
He said he woke up from that operation in severe pain and still could not move the leg. In that moment, he admitted, he questioned God before turning to gratitude.
Learning to Walk Again
The documentary shows his journey from being bedridden to walking with crutches and slowly regaining his strength. He went through intensive physical rehabilitation along the way.
Broda Shaggi said he can now stand and walk without crutches, although he still uses them for support. He also said he is grateful the situation “could have been worse,” since the bullet hit his hip.
Why He Went Quiet Online
For a creator known for a steady flow of skits, music and characters, the months away were hard. He said he feared losing his mobility and was unsure if he could continue as a performer.
“I feel very useless. While in the hospital, I could not act, I could not dance, sing or do whatever I loved,” he said, as quoted by the Nigerian Tribune.
“I couldn’t imagine myself not being able to drop six skits in a month,” he added. He also said he worried that people might forget him and that he might not return to his old pace of work.
During his recovery, he went back to writing content for his YouTube channel, including a series, since he could not perform physically.
