Bisa Kdei Advises Musicians to Be Business-Minded, Says Talent Alone Is Not Enough

Bisa Kdei

Ghanaian highlife musician Bisa Kdei has advised emerging musicians to look beyond their artistic abilities and develop strong business skills if they want to build sustainable careers in the music industry.

The award-winning singer believes that talent alone cannot guarantee long-term success, stressing that musicians must surround themselves with trustworthy people, make sound financial decisions and establish additional sources of income.

Speaking during an interview on Atinka FM on November 3, 2026, Bisa Kdei explained that the music business requires more than the ability to write songs, sing or perform. According to him, artistes also need the right management structures and people who can offer honest advice when necessary.

His comments come amid ongoing conversations about financial management, career longevity and the business side of Ghana’s entertainment industry.

Bisa Kdei Says Musicians Need Business-Minded People Around Them

Bisa Kdei emphasised that emerging musicians should carefully choose the people they allow into their professional circles.

According to the musician, having a large management team does not necessarily translate into success. Instead, artistes should prioritise a small group of dependable individuals who understand their vision and are willing to correct them when they make mistakes.

He explained:

‘Talent is not enough. You need to be smart and surround yourself with the right people. You need business-minded individuals who can correct you when you go wrong.”

He further argued that musicians do not need to surround themselves with numerous advisers who only praise them without offering constructive criticism.

“You don’t need a large team; one or two solid people who believe in you and are honest with you are better than a crowd of people who cannot tell you the truth,” he added.

Bisa Kdei Urges Artistes to Develop Additional Income Streams

Beyond having the right people around them, Bisa Kdei encouraged musicians to establish additional businesses and income streams while their careers are flourishing.

He cautioned against depending entirely on music earnings and fame, explaining that popularity does not last forever and artistes must prepare for periods when their careers may no longer generate the same financial returns.

The musician stressed that financial planning should be an important part of every artiste’s career.

“Beyond the fame, what will you eat when the fame is gone? You need to be business-minded. That is why I always say you should have a side hustle. When you spend money, you must plan,” he stated.

His advice highlights the importance of investing earnings wisely rather than spending excessively without considering future financial security.

‘I Have Experienced Hunger’ – Bisa Kdei Reflects on His Journey

Bisa Kdei also drew from his personal experiences before achieving success in the music industry to explain why he no longer feels pressured to impress others financially.

The singer disclosed that he had experienced difficult moments, including hunger, before reaching his current position.

According to him, those experiences have taught him to concentrate on his ambitions instead of making financial decisions to satisfy public expectations.

“I have experienced hunger, and I know what I went through to get to where I am today. So why should I spend my time worrying about impressing someone? I don’t care about doing things just to please people,” he said.

His comments reinforce his position that musicians should prioritise their personal goals, financial stability and long-term ambitions over unnecessary competition and public validation.
