American R&B star Brandy is coming to Lagos. The Grammy-winning singer, widely known as “The Vocal Bible,” will headline Flytime’s House of R&B on Sunday, December 20, 2026, at the Eko Convention Centre, kicking off six straight nights of Flytime shows during the city’s famous Detty December season.

The announcement, reported by Vanguard and several international outlets, makes Brandy one of the first big foreign names confirmed for Lagos this December. It also adds a classic R&B flavour to a festive calendar that is usually dominated by Afrobeats.

Brandy to Open Flytime’s December Season

House of R&B is the first event on Flytime’s packed December slate. Brandy’s show will set the tone for a run of concerts that ends on Christmas Day.

American R&B outlet That Grape Juice reported that B-Rocka will open the show. Flytime has also said more artists will be announced in the coming weeks.

The House of R&B night is sponsored by Glenmorangie, according to EURweb.

What Flytime Said

Flytime founder and CEO Cecil Hammond described Brandy as a perfect fit for the brand’s R&B night.

“Brandy is one of the most influential voices in R&B, and bringing her to the Flytime stage is incredibly special,” he said, as quoted by EURweb.

He added: “Brandy represents everything Flytime’s House of R&B celebrates, and she is the perfect artist to open our December season.”

Flytime’s chief operating officer, Keke Hammond, said the company has planned a varied run of shows. “This December brings six nights, each with its own identity and experience,” Hammond said.

Flytime’s Full December 2026 Calendar

Brandy’s concert is only the start. Flytime has confirmed the following dates, all at the Eko Convention Centre:

  • December 20: Flytime’s House of R&B (Brandy)
  • December 21: Coca-Cola Rhythm Unplugged
  • December 22–24: Flytime Fest Powered by Coca-Cola
  • December 25: Flytime Circle

Line-ups for Rhythm Unplugged, Flytime Fest and Flytime Circle have not been revealed. Fans will be watching closely to see which Nigerian and international stars get the nod.

A Big Year for Brandy

The Lagos booking comes at the end of a busy and rewarding year for the singer. In 2026, the Recording Academy and its Black Music Collective honoured her with the Black Music Icon Award.

She also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this year. On top of that, her memoir, Phases, debuted at No. 1 on The New York Times Best Seller list.

Vanguard also noted that Brandy has worked with Ty Dolla $ign, Kehlani and Josh Levi this year.

The “Vocal Bible” and her legacy

Brandy has shaped R&B for more than three decades. Her layered harmonies and unusual vocal style have influenced many singers who came after her.

She is a Grammy winner, including for her famous duet “The Boy Is Mine.” Her debut album went multi-platinum and made her one of the biggest young stars of the 1990s.

For many Nigerian fans who grew up on her music, seeing her live in Lagos will be a special moment.

South Africa Dates Before Lagos

Lagos is part of a wider African trip for the singer. According to Vanguard, Brandy will first perform in South Africa.

She is scheduled for Cape Town on December 14, followed by two nights in Pretoria on December 17 and 18. She then heads to Lagos for the December 20 show.

Flytime’s Track Record in Lagos

Flytime has been part of Lagos nightlife since 2004 and is now one of the biggest names in Nigeria’s live music business.

Past Flytime stages have hosted Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Tems, Rema, Asake, Olamide, Megan Thee Stallion, Gunna, Boyz II Men, Bobby Brown and Bell Biv DeVoe.

Last December, the House of R&B night featured Total and DJ Kid Capri. Rhythm Unplugged was headlined by Rema and Central Cee, while Flytime Fest had Flavour, Olamide, Asake and Davido across four nights. EURweb reported that several of those nights sold out, with the biggest crowd close to 20,000 people.

Why It Matters for Detty December

Detty December is the period when Nigerians abroad and international visitors pour into Lagos for concerts, parties and festivals. Every year, promoters compete to land the biggest acts.

Booking an R&B icon like Brandy shows how far the Lagos December scene has grown. It also gives older fans a reason to plan their trip early.

The news comes in a busy week for Nigerian entertainment, after the Headies 2026 was postponed to April 2027. Across the border, Ghana’s December concert season is also filling up, with shows like Lasmid Live in Concert already on the calendar.

Final Word

With Brandy confirmed for December 20, Flytime has opened its 2026 Detty December plans with a big name. Ticket details are still to come, so fans should keep an eye on Flytime’s official channels. For now, Lagos can look forward to a night of classic R&B from one of the genre’s most respected voices.
