Chef Failatu’s Record-Breaking Cooking Marathon Reaches 130 Hours
Chef Failatu Abdul Razak is currently in the midst of her ambitious quest to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, known as “cook-a-thon.”
The endeavor began on January 1, 2024, and today, January 6, 2024, marks the fifth day of her culinary marathon. The event is taking place at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, where Failatu, along with her assistants, is tirelessly working towards a 120-hour cook-a-thon.
Despite the initial goal to conclude the marathon on January 6, Chef Failatu has decided to extend the deadline to Wednesday, January 10, 2023, giving herself additional time to secure a strong position for breaking the current Guinness World Record.
The kitchen setup is notably equipped with glass shields and adorned with images of Chef Failatu, creating a distinctive and dedicated environment for the marathon.

The support for Chef Failatu’s record-breaking attempt has been substantial, with Ghanaians from across the country flocking to the Modern City Hotel to express their encouragement. Videos shared by the state broadcaster, GTV, provide a glimpse into the challenging yet determined efforts of Chef Failatu and her team.
The popularity of cook-a-thon gained significant momentum in 2023 when Nigerian chef Hilda Baci initially set the world record. However, an Irish chef, Alan Fisher, later surpassed her achievement by cooking for an impressive 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds.
Chef Failatu Abdul Razak now seeks to reclaim the title and make history with her extended cook-a-thon marathon.
