Animal Rights Activist Slams Chef Hilda Baci for Eating Dog Meat

In a recent incident that went viral, renowned animal rights activist and President of the My Dog & I group, Jackie Idimogu, expressed strong disapproval towards chef Hilda Baci for consuming dog meat. Hilda Baci, who recently attempted a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, visited her home state of Akwa Ibom in the company of influencer Enioluwa Adeoluwa.

The duo was caught on video sitting at a table where dog meat was being served. While Hilda openly admitted to eating dog meat, she tried to persuade Enioluwa to try it as well, but he declined.

Jackie Idimogu, in a video message shared on her social media page, condemned Hilda for her actions, labeling them as cruelty against animals. She criticized Hilda for consuming dog meat despite members of the My Dog & I group and their dogs showing support during Hilda’s cookathon. Jackie explained that several members of her group attended the event wearing their group shirts, and dogs were present as well. Some of her group members took pictures and videos with every dog they encountered at the event.

Expressing her surprise and disappointment, Jackie stated, “Now, imagine my surprise this evening, scrolling through Instagram, and then I see on a news blog that this same Hilda posted that she is eating a dog.” Initially, Jackie had reservations about supporting Hilda during her cookathon upon hearing that she was from Akwa Ibom. However, she decided to give Hilda the benefit of the doubt, assuming that the chef was well-exposed. Jackie further expressed her discontent with Hilda’s decision to showcase dog consumption when the world was celebrating Nigeria through her relentless efforts.

She firmly stated, “And now that the spotlight of the world is on Nigeria through you, you decide that what you want to show the world is that Nigerians are dog eaters? No, no. I’m making this video to refute the fact that Nigerians are not dog eaters.”
