Kwesi Arthur Alleges Threats and $150,000 Demand From Former Management

Ghanaian rapper Kwesi Arthur has publicly accused music executive Glen Boateng and members of the Ground Up Chale team of intimidation, financial exploitation, and deliberate attempts to block his independent music releases.

The award-winning artiste made the allegations in a strongly worded social media post, sparking intense discussion across Ghana’s entertainment industry and among fans.

In the post, Kwesi Arthur claimed he is being asked to pay $150,000 to use images of himself for a current project — a demand he described as unreasonable and alarming. He further alleged that his former management insists they own his image, music, and brand from 2016 to date.

If anything happens to me, Glen Boateng and all team members of Ground Up Chale should be held responsible,” the rapper wrote, raising concerns about his personal safety amid the ongoing dispute.

Kwesi Arthur, who rose to fame under the Ground Up Chale collective, stated that he has had no professional relationship with the company since the release of his album “Son of Jacob.” Despite this, he claims he has not earned any income from music released during the years he worked with the label.

According to the rapper, he continues to receive threats and manipulation from Glen Boateng, whom he accused of benefiting financially from his hard work while deliberately frustrating his career progression.

Kwesi Arthur also warned fans that any takedown of his current or future independent projects should be blamed on his former manager.

If for whatever reason this project gets taken down, know Glen is responsible. He is working constantly to ensure I never release music again,” he alleged.

The musician explained that he had remained silent for years despite the emotional and mental toll the situation has taken on him. However, he said he decided to speak publicly for the safety of himself and his family.

As of the time of publication, Glen Boateng and Ground Up Chale had not issued any official response to the allegations.

The development comes just days after Kwesi Arthur announced plans to release a new body of work, following repeated calls from fans urging him to become more active in his music career.
