Odo Broni

Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni, has marked what would have been Daddy Lumba’s 62nd birthday in a deeply meaningful way. Instead of a party, she spent the day at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, paying hospital bills for new mothers and supporting families whose children are battling cancer.

The visit took place on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, and videos from the hospital have since spread widely on social media, drawing warm reactions from fans of the late highlife legend.

What Odo Broni Did at Korle Bu

Odo Broni led a group made up of Daddy Lumba’s sister, Faustina Fosu, as well as other family members and friends. Together, they went to the hospital to offer financial help to patients in need.

According to ZionFelix, she paid the medical bills of all mothers who gave birth at the hospital on September 29, dedicating the gesture to Daddy Lumba’s memory.

She also helped settle the bills of new mothers who could not afford the cost of their care, and supported patients being treated for leukaemia.

GH¢3,000 for Mothers of Children With Cancer

In addition, Odo Broni gave GH¢3,000 each to mothers whose children are battling cancer. The money is meant to help them cope with the heavy costs that come with treatment and care.

Why She Chose Cancer Support

Odo Broni explained that the cause is close to the family’s heart. She recalled that Daddy Lumba’s late mother, Comfort Ama Saah Gyamfi, battled leukaemia before she passed away.

According to her, the musician was always deeply moved whenever he talked about his mother’s illness. That memory inspired her to stand with mothers whose children are going through cancer-related struggles.

Keeping Daddy Lumba’s Memory Alive

Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, died on July 26, 2025, at the age of 60 after a short illness. His passing shocked Ghana and the wider African music world, triggering a huge wave of tributes from fans, fellow musicians and public figures.

Since then, Odo Broni has made several public efforts to honour him. The Korle Bu visit comes a few months after the first anniversary of his death, and it shows her continued commitment to keeping his name and legacy alive.

The presence of Faustina Fosu at the hospital also caught the attention of many fans, who saw it as a sign of the family coming together to celebrate the man behind decades of classic highlife songs.

Fans React

Many Ghanaians have praised the gesture online, describing it as a fitting way to celebrate an artiste whose music touched generations. For many, turning a birthday into a day of giving to struggling mothers and sick children says a lot about the kind of legacy Daddy Lumba left behind.
