Rookie Sensation Olivetheboy Tops Chartmetrics List of Most Streamed Ghanaian Musicians

Ghanaian social media platforms are abuzz with news that Olivetheboy, a highly-rated Afrobeats sensation, has been named in an official Chartmetrics list of the Top 5 Most Streamed Ghanaian artistes in the first half of 2023. The list also includes high-profile acts such as King Promise, Stonebwoy, Gyakie, Black Sherif, and KiDi.

The report, compiled by renowned music data analytics giants Chartmetrics and Soundcharts, analyzed streaming metrics from January to June 2023 for Ghanaian musicians and their songs across popular platforms like Spotify, Audiomack, TikTok, Boomplay, and YouTube.

While King Promise’s “Terminator” and Stonebwoy’s “Into the Future” were rightfully recognized as some of the biggest Ghanaian hits of 2023 so far, the most surprising aspect was the inclusion of 20-year-old rookie Olivetheboy, who managed to surpass established artists like Black Sherif, Gyakie, and KiDi.

Olivetheboy rose to prominence in May 2023 with the release of his hit single “Goodsin,” which quickly became the most Shazamed song across West Africa. The track gained popularity on TikTok after a challenge initiated by entertainer and influencer Endurance Grand. Chartmetrics reveals that Olivetheboy is the fastest-growing artist on Spotify, the fastest rookie to reach half a million views on YouTube, the most streamed and charted Ghanaian artist across West Africa, and currently the most listened-to Ghanaian creative in Nigeria.

Incredibly, Olivetheboy’s streaming numbers across various digital service providers overshadow all others, solidifying his position as the top-ranked Ghanaian artiste in 2023.
