Sammy Forson’s Exit from Joy FM Resonates with Gratitude

Sammy Forson, the esteemed host of Ignition and the Weekend City Show, bids farewell to his role at Superstation Joy 99.7 FM after a memorable stint that began in 2018.

Having joined The Multimedia Group from Live FM, Sammy Forson, known for his lovely voice, rich taste in music, and unbridled sense of humor, is departing to explore new opportunities.

During his time at Joy FM, Sammy not only hosted popular shows like Overdrive but also took on various roles, filling in for hosts on Drive Time and Showbiz A-Z. Grateful for the unwavering support and dedication of listeners, he expresses his appreciation for the shared moments and the connection forged with the audience.

Reflecting on his journey, Sammy acknowledges the invaluable contributions of his team, colleagues, and supporters. As he embarks on a new chapter, he carries with him cherished memories and expresses his gratitude for the inspiration and motivation provided by the listeners.

Sammy’s journey in radio traces back to his early days as a computer systems engineer, where his expertise led to the modernization of radio stations using PCDJ software. Over the years, he has made significant contributions to various stations, showcasing his love for music and DJing.

His encounter with radio legend Tommy Annan Forson in 2004 marked a turning point, leading him to Citi 97.3FM, where he hosted shows like ‘Rhythms in the Citi’ and ‘Country Club.’ Noteworthy accolades and growth characterized his time at Citi FM.

Transitioning to YFM 107.9FM in 2009, Sammy gained immense popularity with ‘The Mid-Morning Show with Sammy Forson,’ securing accolades at the Ghana Radio and Television Awards and the Ghana DJ Awards.

From 2010 to 2015, he reached a pinnacle in his career as the Business Development Manager for Sarkodie/Duncwills Entertainment/Sarkcess Music, contributing significantly to Sarkodie’s success.

Joining Live 91.9FM in 2015, Sammy showcased his versatility with shows like ‘Route 919’ and ‘Lifestyle Café’ before landing at Multimedia Group in 2018. His multifaceted role at Joy FM included hosting the ‘Weekend City Show’ and ‘Ignition,’ where he connected with the audience through entertainment, comedy, and captivating discussions.

Sammy’s departure has left a void at Joy FM, acknowledged by Programmes Manager Edem Knight-Tay, who expressed sadness at the news. Despite the impact, he wishes Sammy the very best in his future endeavors, recognizing the passion, dedication, and excellence that defined his tenure at Multimedia Group.
