Shatta Wale Files GH¢100 Million Defamation Lawsuit Against Blakk Rasta

Award-winning Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, has filed a GH¢100 million defamation suit against media personality Blakk Rasta alleging that statements published by the commentator have damaged his reputation. The lawsuit, filed on 15 January 2026, also seeks a public apology and the removal of the contentious video from social media.

According to court documents, the suit stems from a video shared by Blakk Rasta in which Shatta Wale was labelled a “self-confessed king of fraud” — language the artist’s legal team says is both false and malicious and has seriously harmed his public image. In addition to the GH¢100 million claim, Shatta Wale is asking the court to order Blakk Rasta to retract the statements and issue an unconditional apology publicly and on social platforms.

The legal action also requests that the court declare the video defamatory and compel the defendant to delete it permanently across all platforms where it was published, arguing that its wide reach has amplified reputational damage. The lawsuit highlights the impact high-engagement content can have when that content contains statements alleged to be untrue.

This case adds to a pattern of defamation disputes involving Shatta Wale, who has been involved in legal challenges over alleged defamatory comments in the past. However, this current claim against Blakk Rasta is notable due to the claimant’s demand for significant financial damages and formal retraction orders.
