Fireboy DML Confirms ZUKO! Release Date

The release date was shared on Fireboy DML’s Instagram page, where he has been building the album’s story with dramatic, film-style visuals.

Until now, fans only knew the title. When the album was first teased in July, no release date was attached, so the confirmation of October 16 gives listeners a clear countdown to the next chapter of his career.

Quick facts

  • Album: ZUKO!
  • Artist: Fireboy DML (real name Adedamola Adefolahan)
  • Release date: October 16, 2026
  • Number of tracks: 13
  • Labels: YBNL Nation / EMPIRE
  • Album number: Fifth studio album
  • Singles so far: “CLAAT!” featuring Masicka and “IMALI” featuring JAZZWRLD & Thukuthela

A Cinematic Rollout That Got Fans Talking

Fireboy DML introduced ZUKO! with a short cinematic teaser that quickly caught attention online. In it, he appears in a tailored red suit with blood-stained bandages around his head, driving down an empty highway. The album title is revealed on the car’s licence plate.

The teaser did big numbers. According to notjustok, it pulled in more than 100,000 likes and over 800,000 views on Instagram, plus about 1.3 million views and more than 40,000 likes on X.

Fans described the visuals as cinematic and different, and many said the album looked worth the wait. A lot of the online conversation focused on possible collaborations and whether ZUKO! could become one of the defining Afrobeats projects of the year.

The Singles: From Dancehall to 3-Step

Rather than drop the album out of nowhere, Fireboy has been warming up listeners with singles that show a wider sound than usual.

“CLAAT!” With Masicka

The first single, “CLAAT!”, came out in August and features Jamaican dancehall star Masicka. The link-up mixed Fireboy’s smooth Afrobeats melodies with a strong Caribbean flavour and served as the first real taste of the new era.

“IMALI” With JAZZWRLD and Thukuthela

In September, he followed up with “IMALI”, a collaboration with South African acts JAZZWRLD and Thukuthela. The song leans into the South African 3-step Afro House sound, which is a clear step away from the kind of records he is best known for.

JAZZWRLD and Thukuthela had already enjoyed streaming success together with “The Most Wanted”, so the collaboration also opens a fresh door for Fireboy in the South African market.

Fireboy DML’s Album Journey So Far

ZUKO! adds to one of the most consistent album runs in modern Nigerian music. Fireboy signed to Olamide’s YBNL Nation in 2018 and released his debut album, “Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps”, in 2019.

He followed it with “Apollo” in 2020, then “Playboy” in 2022, and “Adedamola” in 2024. That makes ZUKO! his fifth studio album in about seven years.

Along the way, he has delivered big hits such as “Vibration”, “Bandana” and “Peru”, which went global after a remix with British singer Ed Sheeran.

A Favourite Collaborator Across West Africa

Fireboy’s appeal also stretches well beyond Nigeria. Ghanaian fans will remember his work with Black Sherif on “So It Goes”, and he has also appeared on records such as Jaido P’s “One Of A Kind”.

That cross-border pull is part of why a new Fireboy album is always a major event for Afrobeats lovers in both Ghana and Nigeria.

Why ZUKO! Matters

ZUKO! is one of the most anticipated Nigerian albums of the final quarter of 2026. It sits on a list of expected projects that BellaNaija had earlier flagged alongside upcoming releases from acts such as FOLA and Kizz Daniel.

With dancehall and 3-step already in the mix, the album looks set to show a more adventurous Fireboy, while keeping the melodies and songwriting that made him a household name.

The full tracklist and the rest of the features have not yet been officially revealed.

What Happens Next

For now, fans can pre-add the album and stream “IMALI” and “CLAAT!” while they wait. More details on the tracklist are expected as release day gets closer.

One thing is clear: Fireboy DML has built strong excitement around ZUKO!, and October 16 is now a date Afrobeats fans will be circling on their calendars. BellaNaija first reported the release date.
