Mr Beautiful
Kumawood actor Mr Beautiful has hit back at veteran actress Adjoa Pee, dismissing her claim that he kept part of the GH¢2,000 John Dramani Mahama gave for her hospital bills about four years ago. Speaking on Bra Emma Studios, the actor insisted he handed over every cedi, and said he stopped taking her calls because her requests went far beyond what he could help with.
How the Dispute Started
The row began when Adjoa Pee, whose real name is Helena Maame Adwoa Petreba Pieterson, sat down for an interview on Bra Emma Studios that aired on September 24, 2026.
In that conversation, she recalled falling ill around 2022 and being admitted to a hospital in the Tema area. According to her, Mr Beautiful reached out to Mahama on her behalf, and Mahama released GH¢2,000 to support her treatment.
The actress alleged that Mr Beautiful took part of the money, explaining it away as his transport cost, and that she had to add her own money to clear the remaining bill.
She also complained that he recorded a thank-you video she made for Mahama but never shared it with her, despite her repeated requests. On top of that, she said he later stopped answering her calls.
Mr Beautiful: “At What Point Did I Take Any Money?”
Mr Beautiful responded in a video interview, also with Bra Emma Studios, which spread quickly on TikTok. He described the accusation as “incomprehensible.”
The actor said he drove from Accra to the hospital near Prampram and personally gave the actress the full GH¢2,000. He added that a family member recorded the moment the money was handed over.
According to GhanaWeb, he argued that Adjoa Pee herself confirmed the amount at the time. “When you spoke to her, she confirmed that the amount I brought was GH¢2,000. At what point did I take any money from it?” he asked.
Transport money was separate, he says
Mr Beautiful also rejected the idea that he used part of the support as fuel or transport money. He explained that he had already been given separate money to cover the trip from Accra, so there was no reason to touch the actress’s funds.
The GH¢27,000 Comparison
To back his point, the actor pointed to another case he says he handled. He said he once managed GH¢27,000 meant for the medical bills of veteran musician Naa Amanua at the University of Ghana Medical Centre, without taking a pesewa.
In his view, if he did not touch GH¢27,000, there is no reason he would dip into a much smaller GH¢2,000.
He further noted that this is not the first time a veteran entertainer has accused him of mishandling donations he helped to arrange.
Why He Stopped Answering Her Calls
Mr Beautiful did not deny ignoring Adjoa Pee’s calls. Instead, he said he did it on purpose.
He claimed that after the GH¢2,000 was delivered, the actress came back with bigger requests, including help to get a house, a car and a scholarship for her son to study abroad. He said these were things he simply could not arrange, so he chose to step back.
Adjoa Pee’s Wider Appeal for Help
The controversy comes days after Adjoa Pee opened up about her financial struggles. In comments reported by GhanaWeb on September 30, the 64-year-old said she is nearing 40 years in the acting industry yet does not own a car.
She revealed that she relies on tricycles, popularly called “pragya”, to move around, and recalled one overturning in the rain, sending her and her child into muddy water. She appealed for support to get a vehicle.
The actress said she has no regrets about her career and finds comfort in the love of fans. She also claimed that people around Mahama have kept her from meeting him directly, while praising Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang for always returning her calls.
Her story adds to a familiar conversation about the welfare of Ghana’s screen legends. In recent weeks, Nollywood great Pete Edochie also appealed to Mahama to support the film industry, while the passing of veteran actress Grace Nortey has renewed talk about how the country cares for its older stars.

Final Word
