Ex-BBNaija star Mike Edwards has challenged Carter Efe to a ‘Machine Mike vs Carter Efe’ boxing bout after Efe’s TKO win over Speed Darlington in Lagos.

Mike Edwards

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Mike Edwards has thrown down a public challenge to skit maker and streamer Carter Efe, asking him to stop picking easy opponents and step into the ring with him. The call-out comes just days after Carter Efe stopped Speed Darlington at the “Chaos in the Ring” celebrity boxing show in Lagos and said he was ready for “real boxers.”

In a post shared on social media on Monday, October 5, 2026, Edwards accused the comedian of avoiding him and proposed a fight he described as the one Nigerians actually want to see: “Machine Mike vs Carter Efe.”

What Mike Edwards Said

Edwards did not hold back. He reminded Carter Efe that he had challenged him before, and said he had evidence of it.

“Before your first fight, I told you: go handle business, get the W, then me and you make the super fight. I kept the receipts,” he wrote.

He then pointed to Carter Efe’s recent comments about wanting tougher opposition. “Stop the cap. Now you’re saying you want to fight ‘real men’ and ‘real fighters’… I’ve been right here the whole time,” Edwards said.

The former reality star also urged Carter Efe to fight more often and give fans a better show. “Give the people value for their money. You don’t fight enough now,” he added.

His closing message was short and direct: “You say you want a real fighter? I’m not hard to find. Quit ducking me.”

A Dubai Fight Comes First

Edwards made it clear that the bout with Carter Efe would not happen right away. He said he has a fight in Dubai on November 7, 2026, and plans to take care of that first.

He also revealed that he has already spoken with Dr Eazy Adamu and Balmoral Promotions, the organisers behind the Chaos in the Ring series, about putting the proposed match together.

Why Carter Efe Is the Man Everyone Wants to Fight

Carter Efe has turned celebrity boxing into a second career. According to reports, he now has three fights under his belt, while Edwards has had one.

His latest win came on Thursday, October 2, 2026, at the Chaos in the Ring Independence Edition, where he beat Speed Darlington at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. The referee stopped the contest in the fourth round, handing Carter Efe a technical knockout win.

The victory kept his unbeaten run in the series alive and earned him a ₦50 million prize. Earlier in the year, he defeated singer Portable to claim a celebrity boxing title.

The ‘Real Boxers’ Comment That Started It

After beating Speed Darlington, Carter Efe said he was ready to look beyond local celebrity opponents. He named American streamer DDG and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. as the kind of names he wanted to face.

He also credited his partner for the win. “My woman, Taylor Jasmine. She’s the one that gave me the strength to win because I didn’t even train for this fight,” he said after the bout.

It was that talk of “real fighters” that seems to have pushed Edwards to go public with his challenge.

The Rise of Celebrity Boxing in Nigeria

Celebrity boxing has become one of the biggest crowd-pullers in Nigerian entertainment. The Chaos in the Ring series has brought together comedians, musicians, actors and reality stars, turning online rivalries into paid events.

The October 2 card, held to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary, also saw former BBNaija winner Phyna knock out actress Nkechi Blessing in the fourth round. On the same night, Ghana’s Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah beat Nigeria’s Godday “Zodsolo” Appah on points to win the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental title.

Big Brother Naija stars have become a regular part of this scene. With fans still buzzing after Temi Nkem won BBNaija Season 11 on Sunday, another former housemate stepping up to call out one of the circuit’s biggest names has given social media fresh talking points.

Who Is Mike Edwards?

Mike Edwards first became known to Nigerian audiences as a housemate on Big Brother Naija Season 4, “Pepper Dem,” in 2019. He has since moved into boxing, where fans now call him “Machine Mike.”

Unlike many celebrity fighters, Edwards presents himself as someone who takes the sport seriously. That is the point he is pressing with Carter Efe: if the comedian wants a “real fighter,” he says he is already available.

What Happens Next?

For now, the ball is in Carter Efe’s court. As of the time of writing, he had not publicly responded to Edwards’ challenge.

If the two agree terms, the fight would likely come after Edwards’ November 7 date in Dubai. With Balmoral Promotions already in the conversation, the next edition of Chaos in the Ring could have a ready-made headline bout.

Whether Carter Efe accepts or keeps his eyes on bigger international names, Mike Edwards has made sure his name is now part of the conversation. Fans will be watching closely to see if “Machine Mike vs Carter Efe” moves from social media to the ring.
