Omah Lay Artificial Happiness video

Nigerian singer Omah Lay has opened a new chapter for his 2026 album Clarity of Mind with the official music video for its opening track, “Artificial Happiness.” The visual, which arrived on October 8, 2026, is one of his most cinematic yet. It puts the star in a lonely warehouse built around a single white tree and a crowd of strange, fast-moving figures.

The release keeps the album in the conversation months after it first dropped. It also gives fans a closer look at the dark, reflective world Omah Lay has been building around the project.

Inside the “Artificial Happiness” Video

The video was shaped by Omah Lay himself, who handled the creative direction with his long-time collaborator and director, NWSPK.

It opens with the singer waking up inside an empty, abandoned warehouse. At the centre of the space stands a white tree, the main symbol of the video.

Soon, mysterious figures race towards the tree at full speed. They gather around it and move together in an odd, unsettling kind of harmony.

As the scene builds, Omah Lay begins to float across the room. He is slowly pulled into the group, as if the crowd and the tree are drawing him in against his will.

What the Visual Says

The imagery matches the title of the song. “Artificial Happiness” is about a joy that looks real on the surface but feels empty underneath, and the video turns that idea into something you can see.

The empty warehouse, the faceless crowd and the floating singer all point to the same feeling: being surrounded by people and noise, yet still feeling alone. Fans of Omah Lay will recognise this theme from much of his earlier work.

A Big Year for Clarity of Mind

Clarity of Mind is Omah Lay’s second studio album and his first full-length project since his 2022 debut, Boy Alone. It landed on streaming platforms in early April 2026.

The album has been one of the most talked-about Nigerian releases of the year. According to the release shared with the video, it has now passed half a billion total streams.

It also debuted at No. 8 on Billboard’s Top World Albums chart, which was Omah Lay’s first top-10 debut in the United States.

Strong Start at Home

The album started strongly in Nigeria too. In the week of its release, Arise News reported that “Artificial Happiness,” “I Am” and “Don’t Love Me” held the top three spots on Apple Music’s Nigeria Top 100 chart.

The album itself also reached No. 1 on Apple Music’s Nigeria Top Albums chart at the time.

The Sound and Themes

Across its 12 tracks, the album explores desire, faith, loneliness and self-discovery. The project has been described as both a sonic expansion and a personal rebirth for the singer.

Among the standout songs, “I Am” works like a calm, repeated affirmation and has been pushed as a focus track. “Julia” leans into an electronic sound, while “Canada Breeze” carries a dreamy, floating feel.

Three songs on the album, “Holy Ghost,” “Waist” and “Don’t Love Me,” were released as singles before the full project arrived.

Omah Lay’s Rise So Far

Since his breakout, Omah Lay has become one of Afrobeats’ most distinctive voices. His mellow, emotional style has made him a favourite of other artists too, and he has featured on songs such as Darkoo’s “Whiskey”.

According to the release, he has now gathered close to three billion streams worldwide. It also points to his GRAMMY nomination alongside Davido for their joint song “With You” as a major moment in his career.

The new visual arrives during a busy stretch for Nigerian music. Fellow stars are also rolling out big projects, including FOLA, who recently unveiled the tracklist for his sophomore album ‘9’. Ayra Starr also shared a new music video for “Heaven Baby” with Zayn.

Fans React

“Artificial Happiness” was already a fan favourite from the album, so the video has given listeners a fresh reason to return to the song.

Omah Lay has also not been shy about his confidence. Speaking around the album’s release, he said, “I’m the best at this,” adding that when it comes to true artistry, he believes he stands alone at the top among Afrobeats acts.

Final Word

With the “Artificial Happiness” video, Omah Lay shows that Clarity of Mind still has more to give. The warehouse, the white tree and the floating singer turn a moody song into a striking short film. Fans can now watch the video on his official channels and stream the full album on all major platforms.
