Toluwanisings
Comedians and gospel ministers Woli Agba and Dele Omo Woli have taken legal action over social media claims linking them to the death of gospel singer Toluwanisings. Their lawyers have warned that anyone who keeps spreading the claims could face court action. The move comes a day after gospel star Tope Alabi gave the preacher behind the claims a 24-hour ultimatum to take them down.
The two entertainers, whose real names are Ayobami Ajewole and Olamide Oladimeji, shared a public notice from their law firm, GemGold Solicitors, on Instagram on Sunday, October 25, 2026. The notice describes the allegations as “malicious and defamatory.”

Here is the post the two comedians shared on Instagram:
What the Lawyers’ Notice Says
According to Legit.ng, the notice from GemGold Solicitors was digitally signed and sealed on October 23, 2026. It asks the public to stop publishing or sharing the claims.
It also tells people not to endorse or repost the content. Anyone who has already shared it was asked to take it down without delay.
The firm warned that people who keep circulating the material could be held legally responsible. It said its clients are ready to seek substantial damages and injunctive relief under both civil and criminal law.
Where the claims came from
The claims started with Tayo Kumuyi, a Canada-based preacher known online as Pastor Tayo. Through his Facebook page, Pastor Tayo Ministries, he posted a series of videos and posts between October 20 and 24.
The posts linked several well-known gospel figures to the singer’s death. Legit.ng reported that the names mentioned include Woli Agba, Dele Omo Woli, Tope Alabi and comedian Woli Arole. The claims have not been verified, and no police investigation, court ruling or official finding supports them.
Tope Alabi Also Took Legal Steps
Woli Agba and Dele Omo Woli are not alone in going the legal route. Veteran gospel singer Tope Alabi had already sent a cease-and-desist letter to the preacher.
The letter, dated October 24, 2026, came from her lawyers, Oakmount Legal Practitioners, and was signed by Toluwanimi Okunade. Alabi shared it on Instagram the same day and tagged the Nigeria Police Force.
Her lawyers said the posts falsely accused her of murder and ritual killing. They described the claims as an attempt to exploit public grief.
Her demands
Alabi’s legal team asked the preacher to remove the posts, issue an unconditional retraction and publish a public apology. They want the apology pinned on the same Facebook page for 14 straight days.
If he fails to act within 24 hours, her lawyers said, she will seek an injunction, damages and legal costs. They also listed complaints to Meta Platforms and to law enforcement as possible next steps.
In her caption, Alabi said failure to comply would leave her with “no option but to pursue all appropriate legal remedies.”
‘No letter will save you’
The dispute grew more heated after Alabi first issued a public warning on October 23. The preacher replied with a post that read: “Tope Alabi, no letter will save you from my hand.”
Her lawyers called the message a direct threat. They said they would use it as evidence of malice if the matter goes to court. They also said living abroad would not protect him, because the posts targeted a Nigerian public figure and were aimed at Nigerian audiences.
As of Monday morning, the preacher had not publicly responded to the legal notices. Pulse Nigeria also reported that no lawsuit had yet been confirmed as filed.

Who Was Toluwanisings?
Toluwanisings was a Nigerian gospel singer from Ikirun, Osun State. He rose to prominence in recent years with songs such as “Kabiyesi Olorun Ayo.” He was also a trained estate surveyor and valuer.
He died in the early hours of October 14. His personal assistant said he slumped at his home in Ibadan and was taken to several hospitals. His family has not announced a cause of death.
About three months earlier, in July, he and his band survived a road accident. There is no confirmed link between that accident and his death.
Woli Agba’s close bond with the singer
Woli Agba was one of the first public figures to confirm the death. In an emotional Instagram tribute, he called Toluwanisings “a very unique voice” and wrote that “an angel just passed on.”
Before the news was confirmed, he had urged fans not to assume the worst while prayers were still going on. Nollywood stars including Funke Akindele, Muyiwa Ademola, Nkechi Blessing Sunday and Eniola Badmus also paid tribute.
Tribute Night Comes Up This Week
The legal row comes just as the family prepares to honour the singer. As we reported earlier, the family has fixed a Night of Tributes for Tuesday, October 27, in Ibadan, and has appealed for support for his wife and daughters.
The case is also the latest showbiz defamation fight to play out in public. In Ghana, actor Van Vicker recently sued Lil Win for GH¢10 million over defamation claims.
What Happens Next
Woli Agba, Dele Omo Woli and Tope Alabi have all made clear they will not let the claims slide. Their next moves may depend on whether the preacher takes the posts down. For now, many fans are calling for calm and asking people to let the late singer rest in peace. We will keep following the story.
