Veteran Kumawood Actress Shares Frightening Incident During Movie Shoot
Veteran Ghanaian actress Mavis Yeboah, popularly known as Maame Gyanwaa, has opened up about a terrifying experience she says nearly cost her life while filming a movie.
The actress reportedly recounted the incident during an interview, explaining that she was involved in a scene that required her character to be placed inside a coffin as part of a money ritual.
Maame Gyanwaa Says She Lost Consciousness Inside Coffin
According to Maame Gyanwaa, the scene was scheduled to be filmed around midnight after earlier scenes had taken longer than expected. She said she was placed inside the coffin while actor Mr Beautiful performed the ritual actions above her.

She recalled that shortly after the coffin was sealed, Mr Beautiful fell onto it and began crying uncontrollably. Maame Gyanwaa said she then felt a sudden rush of cold air before losing consciousness.
“I passed out in the coffin.”
The actress further claimed that the director also appeared to experience sleep paralysis and was unable to call for the scene to be stopped. When she eventually regained consciousness, she said members of the production crew were gathered around her.
Crew Reportedly Discovered That the Scene Was Not Recorded
Maame Gyanwaa said the crew later returned to their hotel and reviewed the footage, only to discover that the cameras had failed to capture the scene.
According to her account, the production team subsequently concluded that they had not performed a libation before filming. After doing so, they reportedly returned to the location and reshot the scene without further incident.
Actress Also Recalls Dangerous Pool Incident
The veteran actress also shared another frightening experience from the same production.
She explained that one scene required Mr Beautiful to push her into a swimming pool. Before filming, she briefly stepped away to pray, but the director reportedly called her back before she had finished.
Maame Gyanwaa said that shortly after she returned to the poolside, lights and other electrical equipment toppled into the water. She believes the consequences could have been devastating if she had already entered the pool.
Her account has generated conversations about safety precautions on movie sets, particularly when filming scenes involving water, electrical equipment and unconventional locations.
