Salinko Withdraws GH¢1,000 Monthly Support Pledge After Wealth Scrutiny

salinko withdraws gh¢1,000 monthly support pledge after wealth scrutiny

Salinko

Ghanaian actor and businessman Abraham Kofi Davis, popularly known as Salinko, has withdrawn his plan to provide monthly financial support to veteran actors and musicians following questions about his wealth.

The Kumawood actor had earlier announced plans to give more than 300 industry veterans GH¢1,000 every month for the rest of their lives. However, he has now disclosed that the initiative has been cancelled.

Salinko Responds to Questions About His Wealth

According to Salinko, he began donating to people and supporting charitable causes at a time when he was not wealthy. He explained that the recent scrutiny surrounding his finances and calls for an investigation have discouraged him from continuing with his public donations.

“I started giving and making donations when I wasn’t even wealthy, but now that my wealth is being questioned and people are calling for an investigation, I have stopped. I won’t continue being generous,” he said.

Actor Cancels Monthly Support for Veterans

Salinko’s decision comes shortly after he made several high-profile donations to personalities within Ghana’s entertainment industry.

His proposed monthly support was intended to assist veteran actors and musicians who have contributed to the creative industry but may no longer have a steady source of income. The pledge had attracted public attention because of its scale and the promise to sustain the beneficiaries for the rest of their lives.

Salinko’s Recent Acts of Generosity

In recent months, Salinko has reportedly gifted vehicles and cash to several individuals, including veteran gospel musicians Nana Yaw Asare, Adwoa Power and Mc Abraham.

He also previously launched the “Salinko Help The Needy” initiative, through which he and his team supported patients at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and donated to inmates at the Kumasi Prisons.

Despite his decision to stop the donations, Salinko’s latest comments have sparked discussions about public generosity, wealth scrutiny and the pressure celebrities face when their financial activities attract attention.
