AY
Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has apologised to fans who waited for hours at his Cardiff show on Sunday, October 25, 2026, without seeing him or the other comedians on the bill perform. AY says the night fell apart because of an unpaid balance owed by the organisers, and he is now urging ticket holders to get their money back.
The Cardiff date at Valegate Retail Park was part of his AY Live: Single and Not Searching UK tour. In a statement shared on Instagram on Monday, October 26, the comedian said he and his team were in Cardiff and ready to go, but “unresolved payment commitments delayed our appearance.”
Watch: AY Explains What Happened in Cardiff
AY shared a video response on his official Instagram page explaining why the show did not go ahead as planned.
What Happened at the Cardiff Show
Fans who bought tickets for the Sunday show described a long and confusing night. According to reports, music kept playing at the venue while the audience was repeatedly told that AY was close by.
As the hours went on, frustration grew. Attendees posted complaints on social media about the long wait, heated arguments inside the venue and a police presence. Many people eventually left without seeing any of the advertised acts.
AY Blames Unpaid Balance From Organisers
In his Instagram response, AY said he and his team arrived in Cardiff before 5pm, ready to perform. He explained that the organisers’ outstanding balance for his appearance was due at the end of September and had still not been paid.
He also said a similar payment problem came up at a show in Leicester a few days earlier. According to him, his team struggled to reach the organisers, including over accommodation for the group.
AY said he was outside around 3am before his own card was charged to pay for rooms for the team. He did not publicly name the people responsible for the breakdown.
Sponsor Steps In, But Too Late
The comedian said a sponsor, Enoch Adekoya of Koya Group, stepped in at about 10pm. After that, the performers made their way to the venue, but by then “most of the audience had left.”
“I Am Sincerely Sorry” – AY Apologises to Fans
AY did not hide his disappointment over how the night ended for the people who came out to see him.
“To everyone who bought tickets, travelled and waited, I am sincerely sorry you did not get the show you paid for,” he said.
He added: “You deserved a properly organised show and timely information.” He also said fans “should never have been caught in the middle of a payment dispute.”
Refunds: What AY Told Ticket Holders
AY promised that affected fans would get refunds. He asked the organisers and the UK tour management to provide “a clear resolution for ticket holders, including refund information.”
He advised fans to contact the platform or outlet where they bought their tickets. He also suggested they ask their bank or card provider for a payment dispute or chargeback if needed.
“Please get your money back. You shouldn’t have to wait for a possible return show or seek resolution,” he said.
AY added that verified updates would only come through his official channels.
Will AY Return to Cardiff?
The comedian said he would only come back to Cardiff with a reliable local partner and a clear agreement in place. He also said he may report the matter to the police and noted that he entered the UK with a work permit.
Organisers Yet to Respond
As of the time reports were filed on Monday, the organisers of the Cardiff show had not publicly explained the disruption or announced refund arrangements. Their side of the story is still unknown.
