Sarkodie Donates to Manhyia Hospital Mother and Baby Unit
Sarkodie has taken a break from final rehearsals to give back to the city hosting his biggest night of the year. The rapper visited the Mother and Baby Unit of the Manhyia District Hospital in Kumasi and presented assorted items to the facility, just before Rapperholic 2026 lights up the Baba Yara Sports Stadium tonight, Saturday, October 24, 2026.
Photos and a video of the visit spread on social media on Friday, October 23, and fans have been praising the King of Ghana Rap for putting mothers and newborns at the centre of his concert week.

Sarkodie Visits Manhyia District Hospital
According to reports, Sarkodie, whose real name is Michael Owusu Addo, personally brought the items to the Mother and Baby Unit. He did not simply hand over the donation and leave. He spent time talking with nurses, hospital staff and others who were present.
The specific items were not listed in the reports. Kobby Kyei News, which covered the visit, described them as essential supplies for mothers receiving care at the unit. It said things like sanitary pads, tissue and other basic needs are what the donation is expected to support.
The same report said the donation came through the Sarkodie Foundation as part of a community outreach linked to Rapperholic 2026 in Kumasi.
Hospital Thanks the Rapper
Eric Dua Boateng, the Health Service Administrator at the Manhyia District Hospital, thanked Sarkodie and his team for the gesture.
He also appealed to companies, groups and individuals to come to the aid of patients who struggle to pay their medical bills or afford basic needs while on admission.
Ethan Lawrence, a member of the Rapperholic team, said the Kumasi project brings entertainment and community service together. He added that preparations for the main concert were complete.

A Busy Week for Sarkodie in Kumasi
The hospital visit caps off a packed week for the rapper in the Ashanti Region capital. On Monday, October 19, his arrival turned into a street party as a huge convoy of fans welcomed Sarkodie to Kumasi, slowing down traffic in parts of the city.
A few days later, he was at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he was named an ambassador of the university. KNUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Christian Agyare presented him with a souvenir plaque usually reserved for very important visitors.
“We are moving from excellence to eminence, and we need people like you on board,” Prof. Agyare told him. The university’s Students’ Representative Council also pledged its support for the concert.
Rapperholic 2026: What to Know About Tonight
Rapperholic 2026 is the second edition of Sarkodie’s homecoming concert in Kumasi. It is being held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the same venue that hosted the first Kumasi edition in 2025.
Sarkodie first confirmed the date in August with a post on X that read: “Oseikrom sorry for the wait!!! See yall 24th OCTOBER #RapperholicKumasi26.”
He later raised expectations on Facebook, writing: “On October 24, Baba Yara won’t just be a stadium… IT’LL BE THE CENTER OF GHANA.”
Who Is Performing?
As of the latest reports, the organisers had not officially released the full list of performers. Fans will be hoping for surprise guests, as was the case last year.
The 2025 edition drew thousands of fans to the stadium despite a heavy downpour. Acts on that night included Shatta Wale, Obrafour, Efya, Kofi Kinaata, Medikal and Kweku Smoke. Shatta Wale’s appearance on stage with Sarkodie was one of the biggest moments of the night.
Shatta Wale has also had a big October of his own, after ShattaFest 2026 filled the Accra Sports Stadium.
Why Rapperholic Matters
Rapperholic takes its name from Sarkodie’s 2012 album. For years, the concert was a fixture on Accra’s December entertainment calendar before he moved it to Kumasi last year.
Sarkodie has said he wants the Kumasi homecoming to become a yearly tradition for the Ashanti Region. Ahead of this year’s show, his team also organised the Kumasi Rising Music, Media and Tourism Dialogue at KNUST, which looked at how the creative industry can support tourism, investment and development in the region.
Charity work around the concert has also become a pattern, with the rapper using the build-up to support vulnerable people in the host city.
Fans React
The visit was widely shared on social media, where fans praised Sarkodie for remembering mothers and newborns during one of the busiest weeks of his year.
What’s Next for Sarkodie
After Kumasi, the rapper has more on his plate. He has spoken about his plans for a 2027 headline concert at London’s O2 Arena, and his five-track DeJaVu EP is due on November 27.
Final Word
With the hospital donation, the KNUST ambassador role and a city that has already shown up for him in the streets, Sarkodie heads into Rapperholic 2026 with Kumasi firmly behind him. All eyes are now on Baba Yara tonight to see whether he can top last year’s rain-soaked show.
