Kumasi came to a standstill on Monday, October 19, 2026, as thousands of fans poured onto the streets to welcome Sarkodie into the Garden City. The rapper arrived in the Ashanti Regional capital five days before Rapperholic 2026, the second Kumasi homecoming edition of his flagship concert, which takes place on Saturday, October 24, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

A Hero’s Welcome in Oseikrom
Videos shared online on Monday showed a long convoy of cars, motorbikes and fans on foot surrounding Sarkodie’s vehicle as it moved through the city.
At one point, the rapper stood up in his car and used his phone to film the crowd that had gathered to see him. The procession brought busy parts of the city to a near halt as it made its way through town.
The turnout did not happen by chance. A few days before his arrival, Sarkodie went on X to ask his Kumasi fans to give him a big reception. Judging by the crowds, the city answered his call.
Rapperholic 2026: What We Know So Far
Sarkodie first confirmed the Kumasi date on August 24, 2026, in a short post on X: “Oseikrom sorry for the wait!!! See yall 24th OCTOBER #RapperholicKumasi26.”
He later raised expectations further on Facebook, telling fans that on October 24, Baba Yara “won’t just be a stadium” but would become “the center of Ghana.” In another message aimed at the city, he wrote: “KUMASI, THIS IS YOUR OWN.”
As of the latest reports, the official list of performers for this year’s show has not been announced, so fans are still waiting to find out who will join the rapper on stage.

More Than Just a Concert
This year’s Rapperholic week is not only about the big night at the stadium. Organisers have also announced the Kumasi Rising Music, Media and Tourism Dialogue, which will be held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Wednesday, October 21.
The session will look at how the creative industry can help drive tourism, investment and development in the Ashanti Region.
It is a sign that Sarkodie wants the Kumasi edition to grow into something bigger than a one-night show. He has previously said he would like the homecoming concert to become a yearly tradition in the region.
Looking Back at Rapperholic 2025
The first Rapperholic homecoming took place at the same Baba Yara Sports Stadium on September 27, 2025. It was a big step for a brand that had spent more than a decade as one of the main events on Accra’s December entertainment calendar.
Heavy rain fell that night, but thousands of fans stayed on to watch the show. The 2025 bill included Shatta Wale, Obrafour, Efya, Kofi Kinaata, Medikal and Kweku Smoke.
Two moments stood out. Obrafour, widely seen as Sarkodie’s mentor, appeared on stage, and Shatta Wale joined Sarkodie in a performance that got fans talking for days.
Why Kumasi Matters to Sarkodie
Rapperholic takes its name from Sarkodie’s 2012 album of the same title. Over the years, it has grown from an album concert into one of the best-known live music brands in Ghana.
The response in Kumasi last year appears to have shaped the rapper’s bigger plans. In a recent interview, Sarkodie linked the strong turnout at his first Kumasi show to his decision to aim for a larger venue abroad, as he prepares for a 2027 concert at London’s O2 Arena.
The Kumasi show also comes at a busy time for the rapper musically. He recently announced a new project, the five-track ‘DeJaVu’ EP, set for release on November 27.
Fans React
Clips from Monday’s arrival quickly spread across social media, with fans sharing videos of the crowds and the slow-moving convoy from different parts of the city.
When Sarkodie first announced the Kumasi date in August, many fans online celebrated the decision to bring the show back to the Ashanti Region, and the arrival scenes have only added to the buzz ahead of Saturday.
What Happens Next
With Sarkodie now in town, attention turns to the KNUST dialogue on Wednesday and then the main event on Saturday night. Fans will also be watching closely for the official lineup announcement in the coming days.
If Monday’s street scenes are anything to go by, Kumasi is ready. All eyes are now on Baba Yara Sports Stadium this Saturday to see whether Rapperholic 2026 can top last year’s rain-soaked homecoming.
