How Joselyn Dumas and Sarkodie Became Friends
Dumas told MC Portfolio that she has known Sarkodie since the early days of his career.
She recalled that Sarkodie gave her what she described as “one of my best interviews” on Rhythms, the television show she hosted at the time.
Since then, the two have kept a friendship that she says is built largely on teasing and playful arguments.
‘The Love Is Deep’
Dumas left no doubt about how she feels about the rapper. “Sarkodie and I, the love is deep. I love him, and he knows that,” she said.
She described the two of them as people who are “always fighting”, though she made it clear the quarrels are light-hearted and part of how they relate to each other.
The ‘Unanswered Calls’ Joke
The most talked-about part of the conversation came when the interviewer asked whether she would be attending Sarkodie’s upcoming concert at the O2 Arena in London.
Instead of a direct answer, Dumas sent a message through the host. “Tell him to pick my calls, but don’t put yourself in our fight,” she said with a laugh.
When asked whether Sarkodie really ignores her calls, she replied: “He doesn’t, so I also don’t pick his.”
The interviewer described it as “energy for energy”, to which Dumas responded, “Aura for aura.”
The O2 Arena Concert
The concert she was asked about is Rapperholic UK, which Sarkodie has announced for The O2 Arena in London on March 6, 2027, a date that coincides with Ghana’s 70th Independence anniversary, according to 3Music.
The rapper recently took his Rapperholic brand around Ghana, including a stop at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, where he also made a donation to the Manhyia Hospital Mother and Baby Unit.
Jollof at Sarkodie’s House
Beyond the banter, Dumas shared a more personal memory of visiting Sarkodie at his home, where she said he cooked jollof for her.
She described the rapper as someone who loves the popular rice dish and praised his skills in the kitchen, saying Sarkodie really knows how to cook jollof.
Joselyn Dumas on Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale
Sarkodie was not the only musician Dumas spoke about. According to GhanaWeb, she also described Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale as supportive people she considers family.
She said she sometimes advises Shatta Wale to stay away from controversy, and praised Stonebwoy for supporting people without having to be asked.
Sarkodie and the Long-Running Phone Call Talk
Dumas’ joke touches on a subject that has followed Sarkodie for years, with several colleagues in the industry publicly saying the rapper is hard to reach on the phone.
In an interview with Serwaa Amihere, reported by Graphic Online in October 2026, Sarkodie addressed the issue. “A lot of people get through to me. What I don’t do is stay on the phone,” he said.
He explained that he prefers meeting people in person. “So, I like to schedule days, and we meet because I like when we meet,” he added.
Sarkodie has been in the spotlight this week, after he confirmed producer Hammer’s account of how their first studio meeting happened.
Sarkodie had not publicly responded to Dumas’ comments at the time of writing.
For now, it remains to be seen whether the rapper will return Joselyn Dumas’ calls before he takes Rapperholic to the O2 Arena in March.
