Ghanaian actress and socialite Efia Odo has opened up about the lifestyle choices she believes have helped her maintain a youthful appearance in her 30s, identifying stress management, limited alcohol consumption and healthy eating as important parts of her routine.

Speaking during a TikTok Live session on November 5, 2026, the actress challenged the perception that people automatically become old once they reach their 30s or 40s.

According to Efia Odo, society often celebrates people who die in their 30s and 40s as having passed away young, yet describes those who are alive within the same age range as old.

She questioned the inconsistency, arguing that age should not determine how people feel about themselves or how they choose to live.

Efia Odo Says Stress Is a Major Factor in Ageing

During the live session, Efia Odo explained that she does not allow pressure from society or external expectations to affect her peace of mind.

She described herself as someone with an old soul but a youthful spirit, adding that she believes stress can have a significant impact on a person’s wellbeing and appearance.

“Here’s a secret to how I look, because I’m in my 30s. I feel like people have made their 30s look like some kind of old age. Because why is it that when you die at 30, 35, 36, 38, 40, or 50, they say, ‘Oh, you died young,’ but when you’re alive in your 30s or 40s, suddenly, you’re old? Make it make sense,” she said.

She continued:

“That goes to show you that age is just a number. It’s about how you feel. I have an old soul but a young spirit, and I don’t stress either. I don’t let anything stress me out because stress is really the number one killer.”

Efia Odo Says She Avoids Alcohol, Smoking and Stress

Beyond her views on age, Efia Odo disclosed that she is not a heavy alcohol consumer and is making efforts to stop drinking altogether because she believes alcohol contributes to ageing.

Although she occasionally takes tequila shots, the actress said she is becoming more intentional about reducing her alcohol intake.

“I’m not really big on alcohol. Yeah, I’ll take tequila shots here and there, but I’m really trying to stop because alcohol does make you age. I just live a really free life. I’m not pressured by society. I don’t let anything pressure me because pressure ages you. I age gracefully,” she stated.

She also revealed that she deliberately avoids smoking and the use of substances such as hookah, vapes and marijuana.

“I’m not really into smoking. I don’t smoke hookah, vape or weed. I don’t do any of that stuff,” she shared.

Her comments suggest that maintaining a lifestyle she considers healthy and avoiding unnecessary pressure are among the choices she associates with her youthful appearance.

Efia Odo Shares Her Eating Habits and Weight-Loss Advice

The actress also discussed her eating habits, revealing that she has reduced her meat consumption and rarely eats chicken.

She offered advice to people looking to lose weight, encouraging them to reduce sugary foods and carbohydrates, avoid eating late at night and include more fruits and vegetables in their diets.

“I’ve cut down on meat; I rarely eat chicken. Do you want to lose weight? Stop eating sugary things, cut down on carbohydrates and stop eating late at night. Eat more fruits and vegetables. And the fruits you eat have to be consumed at specific times,” she advised.

Her comments add dietary habits to the lifestyle choices she believes contribute to her overall wellbeing.

However, individual dietary and lifestyle needs differ, and her suggestions should be understood as personal advice rather than a medically established weight-loss programme.

Social Media Reactions to Efia Odo’s Comments About Age

Efia Odo’s remarks about society’s perception of ageing have also attracted attention on X.

One post shared by Charlotte Nicole (@charlycolegh) highlighted what she considered a contradiction in how people discuss ageing and death.

The post read:

“It’s they”mo maame tw3” for me🤣 This thing eh. As soon as you hit 30, then the stigma starts “you’re old” But when someone passes on in their 30’s, they go like “oh she’s young to die at that age” 🙄 make it make sense!

The post included a video of Efia Odo discussing the subject.
