Femi Adebayo Announces Jagun Jagun 2 War of Warriors, Sets December 4 Netflix Premiere

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has confirmed that the sequel to his hit Yoruba epic Jagun Jagun is on the way. The new film, titled Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors, will premiere worldwide on Netflix on December 4, 2026, just over three years after the first film became one of the streaming platform’s biggest Nigerian titles.

Adebayo shared a dramatic teaser on his social media pages late on Sunday, October 11, and fans and colleagues quickly filled his comment section with excitement. The announcement comes less than a week after he opened his new production headquarters in Lagos.

What Femi Adebayo Revealed

The teaser was posted on Instagram and also shared on X. Instead of giving away the plot, Adebayo kept things mysterious with a short, moody caption.

“Even in his absence, his name remained a curse whispered behind closed doors,” the caption began. It went on: “Some men are made by war, others are the reason kingdoms learn to fear it.”

Those lines hint at a story built around legacy, fear and power, which fits the world of the first film. However, Netflix and the filmmaker have not yet released full plot details, the director’s name or the confirmed returning cast for the sequel.

How Nollywood Stars Reacted

The teaser drew an instant response from Adebayo’s colleagues in the industry. Actor Kunle Remi joked about how busy the filmmaker has been, writing: “Baba just dey scatter everywhere. We never even breath finish another gbas gbos.”

Kolawole Ajeyemi wrote, “They don’t know what’s coming,” while Cute Abiola simply commented, “Action por.” Dancer Kaffy wrote “Finally,” and Mercy Aigbe added “Legoo.”

Others, including Kiekie, Osas Ighodalo, Mide Martins and Eniola Ajao, also shared short messages of excitement. Many fans said they had been waiting for a follow-up since the first film ended.

Looking Back at the First Jagun Jagun

Jagun Jagun, also known as Jagun Jagun: The Warrior, landed on Netflix on August 10, 2023. The Yoruba-language action epic was produced by Femi Adebayo under his company, Euphoria360 Media, and directed by Tope Adebayo and Adebayo Tijani.

The film follows Gbotija, played by Lateef Adedimeji, a young man who dreams of becoming a warrior and joins the camp of the feared warlord Ogundiji, played by Femi Adebayo himself.

It featured a large cast of well-known faces, including Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Yekini, Bukunmi Oluwasina, Bimbo Ademoye, Fathia Balogun, Muyiwa Ademola, Mr Macaroni and veteran actor Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello.

A big win for indigenous-language films

After its release, Jagun Jagun climbed into Netflix’s top 10 lists in several countries. It later won Best Indigenous Language Movie (West Africa) and Best Costume Design at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

The film’s success helped show that Yoruba epics could compete on a global stage, and it opened more doors for Adebayo on Netflix. He has since released other projects on the platform, including King of Thieves and the series Seven Doors.

A Busy Month for Femi Adebayo

The sequel news comes on the heels of another major milestone. On Tuesday, October 6, Adebayo opened the Euphoria360 Hub, the new headquarters of Euphoria360 Media, in Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos. The facility was commissioned by Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.

According to Arise News, the hub includes two large production studios, a Dolby Atmos sound studio, a Foley room, editing suites, a podcast room, a photography studio and two cinema rooms. It also has an academy room for training, with a film academy planned.

The ₦40 billion question

The launch sparked heavy online talk, with some social media users claiming the hub was worth ₦40 billion. On October 7, Adebayo questioned how that figure was calculated. When another user guessed it cost ₦1 billion or ₦2 billion, he declined to give a number and replied, “Grace of God is sufficient for me.”

The new hub arrives at a time when Nollywood is expanding its reach. Just this week, producer Mo Abudu also opened EbonyLife Place in London, a cinema dedicated to African and Black films.

Why the Sequel Matters

The Yoruba film industry has had an eventful few weeks, including the public spat between Wumi Toriola and Desola Afod. A big Netflix release from one of its leading producers gives fans something positive to rally behind.

A December 4 premiere also places War of Warriors right at the start of the festive season, when many Nigerians at home and in the diaspora are looking for fresh local content to watch.

What’s Next

For now, fans will have to wait for an official trailer and a full cast list. Given how the first film performed, expectations are already high for the return to the world of warriors, warlords and power struggles.
