Mrs GCFR Death

The family of Nigerian TikTok star Purity Omonye Otaifoh Okoduwa, popularly known online as Mrs GCFR, has finally confirmed her death, about one month after she passed away. In a statement shared on her official Instagram page on Sunday, October 19, 2026, the family also dismissed the many stories that have been going around about how she died.

The announcement ended weeks of silence and speculation. Since September, social media has been flooded with claims about the popular content creator, and her fans had been holding on to the hope that it was all just a rumour.

Watch: The Family’s Statement on Instagram

Here is the post shared on the official Mrs GCFR Instagram page confirming her passing.

Family Says the Rumours Are “Completely False”

In the statement, the family addressed the different stories that had spread online about her death. They were very clear about where they stood.

“We wish to state clearly that these narratives are completely false,” the family wrote.

According to reports by Legit.ng and YEN.com.gh, the family rejected claims that Mrs GCFR died during childbirth, from cardiac arrest, from complications after delivery, from an underlying medical condition or from stress. They also denied reports that she was pregnant at the time of her death.

Cause of Death Not Yet Disclosed

The family said they are not yet in a position to state the exact cause of her death. They asked the public not to attach any cause to her passing based on guesswork or assumptions.

They also warned fans not to treat information from people claiming to be relatives or extended family members as verified. According to the family, such accounts had helped spread misinformation in the weeks after her death.

Husband John Okoduwa Speaks

A separate statement, signed by her husband, John Okoduwa GCFR, was posted on the Mrs GCFR Facebook page, which has been sharing tributes to her.

Legit.ng reported that he described the circulating stories as “entirely untrue.” He said that even though his wife has already been buried, the family still cannot say with certainty what led to her death.

He also said the family had lost a wife, mother, daughter, sister and a much-loved person “far earlier than expected.”

“Your Love for Her Was Real”

The family’s message was not only about clearing the air. It also carried a warm note of thanks to the many people who followed her online.

“You may have known her through a screen, but your love for her was real and definitely we saw it,” the statement read.

The family added that while “the Mrs GCFR you knew may have gone home,” the woman behind the name was also a wife, a mother, a daughter and a sister.

Who Was Mrs GCFR?

Mrs GCFR, also called “Mama Twins” by many fans, became a viral sensation on TikTok through content documenting her pregnancy. Her pregnancy transformation photos and videos drew a large following, with viewers following her journey milestone by milestone.

Fans often described her as warm and relatable, and her posts were known for their joyful, positive energy.

Her Last Post Resurfaces

Following the family’s confirmation, her final post from July 31, 2026 has resurfaced online. In it, she wrote: “Thank God for July! As for August, we are manifesting unending testimonies, favour and celebration!”

Many fans have been sharing the post as they mourn her, noting how full of hope she sounded only weeks before her death.

How the Rumours Started

In late September, news of her death began spreading on TikTok, Facebook and X. Some accounts within her online network claimed she had died of cardiac arrest, while other posts claimed she died after giving birth to twins.

None of these claims came from her immediate family at the time. Her sudden absence from her social media platforms only added to the confusion, as fans waited for an official word.

Sadly, this is not the first time a social media star’s passing has been surrounded by confusion. In August, Ghanaian TikToker Sexy Vida was also reported dead suddenly, sparking a wave of reactions online.

Fans React With Grief

Under the family’s post, fans expressed shock and sadness. Many said they had hoped the news was false.

  • “I wished it was just a rumor,” wrote @temi_realtayo.
  • “Was really hoping it’s just rumors. Rest in peace,” said @Ori_aku.
  • “Nooooo I thought it was a rumor…” commented @Hossansweetbite.

Others offered prayers for the family. One fan, Blessing Amarachi, wrote: “May her gentle soul rest in peace and may God comfort her family and loved ones.”

The news comes in a sad week for Nigerian entertainment, which also saw Nollywood actress Tenia Abraham laid to rest in Abuja.

A Reminder to Respect Grieving Families

The family’s statement is a strong reminder of how quickly unverified stories can spread online, and how much pain they can cause loved ones. Their message to the public was simple: wait for the facts and let her be remembered for the joy she shared. Like the recent Toyin Abraham leaked audio saga, it shows how fast claims travel before the truth catches up.
