Van Vicker has sued Lil Win at the Accra High Court for GH¢10 million over an August video claiming he was banned from acting in Kumasi. Full details.

Lil Win and Van Vicker

The long-running feud between Van Vicker and Lil Win has moved from social media to the courtroom. Van Vicker, the Ghanaian actor, producer and director, has filed a defamation suit at the High Court in Accra against the Kumawood star, whose real name is Kwadwo Nkansah, and is asking for GH¢10 million in exemplary damages over a video he says damaged his name.

The writ of summons and statement of claim, dated Friday, October 10, 2026, became public on Tuesday, October 13, and has quickly become one of the most talked-about stories in Ghana’s movie industry.

What the Lawsuit Is About

The case centres on a video published on TikTok and Facebook on August 13, 2026. It carried the headline “LIL WIN BANS VAN VICKER FROM ACTING IN KUMASI!”

The video was recorded in Twi. According to an English translation contained in the court documents, as reported by MyJoyOnline, Lil Win said: “Our own brother, Van Vicker has lied again against me.”

He is also quoted as saying: “You did not try at all. That is PM and Director. Ask them. You failed to do the work.” The court papers further claim that Lil Win accused Van Vicker of not answering calls and threatened to leave him out of his upcoming film A Journey to Africa if the issues were not sorted out.

How Van Vicker Says He Was Hurt

Van Vicker argues that the words painted him as dishonest, deceitful and unprofessional. He also says they suggested he was unfit to work in Kumawood and had been banned from the industry.

In paragraph 22 of the statement of claim, he says he was “seriously injured in his reputation” and exposed to public scandal and ridicule.

According to the filing, the video led to a flood of calls from actors, producers and directors who wanted to know what was going on. He says some producers became unsure whether he was available to work in Kumasi, that he lost roles as a result, and that he cancelled planned business trips to the city. He also says the dispute caused him anxiety and warns that the video’s continued circulation could do further harm.

Quick Facts

  • Plaintiff: Van Vicker, actor, producer and director
  • Defendant: Kwadwo Nkansah (Lil Win), actor, comedian and filmmaker
  • Court: High Court, Accra
  • Writ dated: October 10, 2026
  • Video at the centre of the case: Posted on TikTok and Facebook on August 13, 2026
  • Main claim: GH¢10 million in exemplary damages, plus general damages for libel

What Van Vicker Wants From the Court

Van Vicker, through his lawyer, is asking the court for several reliefs:

  • A declaration that the statements in the video are defamatory and libellous
  • GH¢10 million in exemplary damages
  • General damages for libel
  • A retraction and apology published on news portals with the same prominence as the original video, running for four consecutive weeks
  • Costs, including legal fees

The writ directs Lil Win to enter an appearance within eight days of being served, counting the day of service. If he fails to do so, the court may enter judgment in his absence.

It is important to note that filing a suit does not mean defamation has been proven. The claims have yet to be tested in court, and Lil Win has not been reported to have responded to the suit publicly as of Tuesday afternoon.

How the Feud Got Here

The legal action follows months of public back-and-forth between the two actors. In August, Lil Win said on TikTok that he was done working with Van Vicker. He accused him of turning down roles at the last minute and ignoring calls from his production team.

Van Vicker rejected the claims at the time. He said talks about the project were still ongoing, that he never confirmed any shooting dates, and that his fees were never agreed. He also criticised the decision to drag the matter onto social media.

The quarrel heated up again last week. On October 5, Lil Win released another video in which he gave Van Vicker five days to apologise and threatened to push for him to be kept out of Kumawood productions. Van Vicker’s lawsuit is dated October 10, the same week that deadline was set.

A Journey to Africa in the Spotlight

The film named in the court papers, A Journey to Africa, has already been in the news for other reasons. Veteran actor Kofi Adjorlolo recently explained why he is missing from the movie, while Lil Win himself has spoken about an unpaid balance owed to Nollywood stars who worked on the project.

Not Lil Win’s First Defamation Case

This is not the first time Lil Win has faced a defamation suit from a fellow actor. Actress Martha Ankomah previously sued him for GH¢5 million over comments he made about her in a viral video. That case was later reported to have ended with the two parties reaching an agreement to settle.

Celebrity defamation suits have become more common in Ghana’s entertainment space, with stars increasingly turning to the courts instead of social media to defend their names. Shatta Wale, for example, has sued Blakk Rasta for GH¢100 million over remarks he considered damaging.

Reactions

News of the suit spread quickly across Ghanaian entertainment portals on Tuesday, and opinion on social media has been divided, as fans weigh in on a rivalry they have followed for more than two years.

Neither actor had made a fresh public statement about the lawsuit at the time of writing.

What Happens Next

Once Lil Win is served, he will have eight days to enter an appearance and respond. The case will then proceed at the High Court, where both sides will present their versions of what happened.

For now, one of Ghanaian movie fans’ most-watched rivalries has entered a new phase, and the outcome could set the tone for how stars handle public disputes in future. Halmblog will keep following the case and bring you updates as they come.
