Wizkid

Wizkid is coming home for Detty December. The Grammy-winning Afrobeats star has confirmed two headline shows in Nigeria this December: one at Eagle Square in Abuja on Sunday, December 13, and another on the opening night of Detty December Fest in Lagos on Friday, December 18. The back-to-back dates, shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, have already set fans talking about what could be one of the biggest weeks of the festive season.

Wizkid Shares Flyers for Abuja and Lagos

Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Balogun, made the announcement by posting official flyers for both concerts on his verified Instagram account, @wizkidayo.

The Lagos flyer reads “WIZKID Live in Lagos” and carries the Detty Dec Fest and Livespot logos. He captioned it, “Lagos, Nigeria! Can’t wait!”

For the capital, the flyer reads “WIZKID Live in Abuja,” with the caption, “Abuja!! Movie!!!”

Popular DJ Tunez, a longtime collaborator of the singer, also shared the news on X, writing: “ABUJA & LAGOS WITH THE KING!”

Abuja: Live Out Loud Music Festival at Eagle Square

The first of the two shows will take place on Sunday, December 13, 2026, at Eagle Square, Abuja. Wizkid will headline the Live Out Loud Music Festival, and his set is being billed as the main highlight of the event.

According to details shared with the announcement, gates will open at 4:00 pm. The show is scheduled to run from 5:00 pm until 11:55 pm.

Tickets for the Abuja show are being sold through Tix Africa, listed as “Wizkid Live in Abuja.”

Why the Abuja date matters

Abuja does not always get the same December attention as Lagos, where most of the big Detty December shows take place. Having Wizkid headline Eagle Square gives fans in the capital and nearby states a major show of their own before the Lagos rush begins.

Lagos: Opening Night of Detty December Fest

Five days after Abuja, Wizkid moves to Lagos for the opening night of Detty December Fest 2026 on Friday, December 18. He will perform on the Detty Festival Stage, the main stage of the festival.

Performance times and ticketing details for the Lagos show are still expected from the organisers.

Wizkid was first named as the opening headliner of Detty December Fest back in August. At the time, organisers described his set as a homecoming to Lagos, the city that shaped his sound. His new Instagram post now confirms the date directly from the star himself.

What to know about Detty December Fest 2026

Detty December Fest is a 13-day festival in Lagos running from December 18 to December 30, 2026. It is organised by The 360Co, led by Deola Art Alade and Dare Art Alade, and produced by Livespot.

This year, the festival is adding a second stage called the Pulse Stage. Organisers say it will host nightlife and culture nights and give emerging African artists a platform, while the Detty Festival Stage remains home to the headline acts.

The first edition in 2025 drew more than 40,000 festivalgoers. Its line-up included Busta Rhymes, Gunna, Tiwa Savage, Shenseea, Diamond Platnumz, Phyno, Wande Coal, Fave, Young Jonn, Qing Madi, Ice Prince and Jux. Passes and single-night tickets are sold on the festival’s official website through its ticketing partner, DOT Tix.

A Big December for Afrobeats

Wizkid’s dates add to a December calendar that is already filling up fast. Earlier this week, US R&B singer Brandy was announced for Flytime’s House of R&B in Lagos on December 20, just two days after Wizkid opens Detty December Fest.

Fellow Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has also promised an Africa show in December as part of her Starrgirl world tour plans, while Davido has been making headlines with his 2027 Grammy submissions.

Reports covering the announcement noted that the Abuja show will be Wizkid’s first headline stage in Nigeria this year, which explains much of the excitement among fans who have waited to see him perform at home.

Fans React

The announcement quickly spread across social media, with many fans already planning trips between the two cities. For some, the chance to see Wizkid in both Abuja and Lagos within one week makes this December stand out.

Wizkid has a long history of big December homecoming shows in Lagos, and fans will be watching closely for any surprise guests once more details are announced.

What Happens Next

More performers and dates for Detty December Fest are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks. Organisers are also expected to share performance times and ticket arrangements for the Lagos opening night.

For now, Wizkid has set the tone for the season. With Eagle Square on December 13 and the Detty Festival Stage on December 18, Nigerian fans have two clear dates to circle on their calendars.
