Stonebwoy
Dancehall star Stonebwoy has put his money where his heart is. The BHIM Nation president has donated GH¢100,000 to the Black Challenge, Ghana’s national amputee football team, to support their preparations for the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico. The gesture has drawn wide praise online, with many calling on others to follow his example.
Stonebwoy made the donation on Friday, October 23, when he paid a surprise visit to the team’s training session at Mensah Sarbah Park on the University of Ghana campus in Accra. He did not just hand over the cash. He spent time with the players, encouraged them and even joined in on the pitch.

‘I’m Supporting Them With GH¢100,000’
Speaking at the training grounds, Stonebwoy made it clear that the donation was his way of standing with the team ahead of the global tournament.
“I’m supporting them with GH¢100,000,” he said, according to reports from the visit.
The dancehall artiste described the players as “our ambassadors” and said he has always followed and supported the team. He also expressed strong belief in their chances in Mexico.
“I hope and believe they can go on and win the World Cup,” he said.
A Call for More Support
Stonebwoy admitted his contribution was only a token and used the moment to call for more help for the team. He urged Ghanaians, corporate bodies and the government to step in.
“We need funds directed to the Amputee team so that they can continue to perform,” he stressed.
He also praised Samson Deen, President of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Ghana, describing him as “a great man” and commending his leadership and commitment to the team.
Who Are the Black Challenge?
The Black Challenge are one of Ghana’s most successful national teams in recent years, even if they do not get the same spotlight as the Black Stars.
The team won the African Amputee Football Cup of Nations in 2021 and again in 2024, and they also claimed gold at the 2023 African Para Games. They head to Mexico as reigning African champions, chasing Ghana’s first-ever amputee football world title.
In Mexico, Ghana will face Angola, Iraq and Colombia in Group D. The tournament runs from November 13 to 22 in San Juan de los Lagos.
Visa Delays Hit Preparations
The donation comes at an important time. According to the Daily Graphic, visa challenges delayed the team’s departure for a pre-tournament training camp in Türkiye. The team is now expected to leave Ghana for Mexico in the coming days, and extra funding should help ease some of the pressure.
A Busy Week for Stonebwoy
The donation caps a busy week for the dancehall star. He has also been speaking about BHIMFEST 2026, which he has moved to the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon instead of the Accra Sports Stadium.
Stonebwoy described the move as strategic and said the full reason would come out later. “So just keep your eyes on the news,” he told the press. He also rejected claims that the change was meant to limit the crowd, noting he has already held two events at the Accra Sports Stadium, the same venue where Shatta Wale recently staged ShattaFest 2026.
Stonebwoy has also been in the headlines in recent days after Sista Afia apologised to him over a public request for a feature, and after Sarkodie said he never meant to mock Stonebwoy with a video that stirred debate online.
Fans React
News of the donation spread quickly across social media, with videos from the visit drawing thousands of views within hours. Many fans praised the musician for shining a light on athletes with disabilities, while others called on more celebrities and businesses to back the team before they fly out.
Final Word
With the World Cup just weeks away, Stonebwoy’s GH¢100,000 gift is a timely boost for a team that has made Ghana proud time and again. The Black Challenge now carry the hopes of the nation to Mexico, and if the BHIM Nation boss gets his wish, they will come home as world champions.
