Burna Boy and Davido Shake Hands at Zlatan’s Bachelor Party in Lagos, Sparking Reconciliation Talk

Burna Boy and Davido

Two of Afrobeats’ biggest names may finally be on speaking terms again. A short video of Burna Boy and Davido shaking hands at Zlatan Ibile’s bachelor party in Lagos has taken over Nigerian social media, sparking fresh talk that one of the longest-running rivalries in the industry could be coming to an end.

The handshake reportedly happened on Thursday night, October 22, 2026, at a Lagos nightclub where friends of the rapper had gathered to celebrate ahead of his wedding to Davita Lamai. By Friday, clips of the moment were everywhere online, and the conversation has not slowed down through the weekend.

This TikTok reaction to the viral handshake clip captures how fans have greeted the moment:

What Happened at Zlatan’s Bachelor Party

Burna Boy and Davido were filmed exchanging a handshake inside the club during the pre-wedding celebration. The video spread quickly after it was shared on X on October 23.

One widely shared post described it simply as the moment the two stars “shook hands in the club when they met at Zlatan’s bachelor party.”

The Upstairs Room Rumour

Alongside the video, unconfirmed reports claimed that the two singers went into an upstairs room for a private conversation while members of both camps waited outside. This account has not been independently verified.

So far, neither Burna Boy nor Davido has publicly commented on the handshake, and no formal reconciliation has been announced.

Why Zlatan Brought Them Together

If there is one artist who could have both men in the same room, it is Zlatan. The Zanku star has strong musical ties to each of them.

He featured on Davido’s 2018 hit “Osanle,” and in 2019 he teamed up with Burna Boy on “Killin Dem.” That song, which appears on Burna Boy’s African Giant album, won Best Collaboration at The Headies.

The bachelor party was part of a week of celebrations leading up to the wedding on Saturday, October 24. Halmblog has already covered how Zlatan Ibile and Davita celebrated their traditional wedding in regal Edo attire, with Pulse reporting that Davido joined the groomsmen in Lagos.

A Look Back at the Burna Boy and Davido Feud

The two singers were once close. Davido appeared on “Trumpet” from Burna Boy’s Best of Burn Series Vol. 1, and Burna Boy featured in the video for Davido’s “Dami Duro.”

How Things Went Sour

Tension grew around 2020, when fans read some of Burna Boy’s cryptic social media posts as shots at Davido. Later that year, Davido’s song “FEM” was widely seen as a reply because it mentioned “Odogwu.”

Davido denied this. He later told Ebuka Obi-Uchendu that the two were brothers and that the line was meant as an invitation for Burna Boy to call him.

In December 2020, both stars were in Ghana, and reports claimed they clashed at a club in Accra. No footage ever emerged, and the details remained disputed.

Peace, Then More Friction

At the end of 2021, Burna Boy posted on social media that he had no issues with Davido and that the two were good, while calling on people to show each other love.

In a 2023 interview, Davido said the two “used to be mad close,” adding that the problem was more about their teams than the two of them. However, the feud flared up again in February 2024 when Burna Boy exchanged words with a Davido fan on X.

By April 2025, Davido said on The Breakfast Club that he no longer had a personal relationship with Burna Boy or Wizkid. That history is why many fans see this week’s handshake as such a big moment.

How Fans Are Reacting

Many fans quickly declared it a truce. One TikTok user posting as “Yaps” summed up the mood with a reaction video captioned “OBO & Odogwu are besties again.”

Others are more careful. They point out that Burna Boy publicly declared peace before, only for tension to return a few years later. For them, a handshake at a friend’s party is a good sign, but not proof that everything has been settled.

Still, for a fan base that has spent years arguing over the rivalry, simply seeing both men greet each other warmly in the same room is a welcome change.

What Comes Next

For now, all eyes are on Burna Boy and Davido to see whether either of them will speak about the encounter. Both have busy schedules ahead, with Burna Boy set to headline Rolling Loud India 2026 in Mumbai in December, while Davido continues to push his album and his 2027 Grammy submissions.

Whether this handshake marks a real reunion or just a polite moment at a friend’s celebration, it has given Afrobeats fans one of the most talked-about moments of Zlatan’s wedding week. Halmblog will keep you updated if either star responds.
