Inside Efya and Tomi Thomas’ Traditional Wedding

Efya stepped out in a custom-designed Kente gown that honoured her Ghanaian roots. The venue was decorated in warm shades of gold, orange, cream and brown.

Tomi Thomas arrived with a large entourage and traditional musicians, dressed in Kente cloth and heavy gold accessories. As part of the customary rites, Efya accepted items presented by the groom’s family.

The couple later exchanged rings, were pronounced husband and wife, and shared a kiss before their first dance. Guests danced to classic highlife tunes and modern Afrobeats throughout the event.

Tomi Thomas: ‘I Want Efya as My Wife’

One of the most shared moments from the day was a short clip of the groom explaining why he followed tradition. In the video, shared by SammyKayMedia, Tomi Thomas said: “I sent my parents with the marriage items because I want Efya as my wife.”

The simple statement won him a lot of praise online, with many fans describing it as respectful and sweet.

Efya’s Mother Gets Emotional

Efya’s mother, veteran TV personality and filmmaker Nana Adwoa Awindor, was one of the stars of the day. According to GhanaWeb, she became visibly emotional as she entered the venue while her daughter’s music played.

Nana Adwoa, known for the TV show Greetings From Abroad, wore a colourful Kente cloth with an orange headwrap and gold jewellery.

Celebrities and Dignitaries Who Attended

The wedding was a star-studded affair. Among those named by local media as guests were:

  • Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie
  • Paramount Chief of Akuapem, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III
  • National Film Authority CEO, Kafui Danku
  • Musicians Sister Derby, Becca and Fantana
  • Actresses Fella Makafui and Salma Mumin
  • Socialite Hajia4Reall and media personality Efia Odo
  • Fashion duo Lali x Lola

Many guests matched the theme of the day in Kente and gold-themed outfits, making the ceremony one of the most stylish showbiz events of the year.

From Secret Marriage Rumours to Official Union

This is not the first time the couple’s names have trended together. In February 2026, reports spread online that Efya had secretly married Tomi Thomas on Valentine’s Day.

Efya’s management later cleared the air. According to Graphic Online, they explained that only a traditional knocking ceremony had taken place between the families on February 14, and that the full customary marriage rites had not yet been completed.

Friday’s ceremony completed those rites. The pair have kept their relationship largely private over the years, which made the public celebration even more special for fans.

Who Is Tomi Thomas?

Tomi Thomas is a Nigerian singer and songwriter who first became known as the lead voice of the Nigerian group Loud On Sound (L.O.S.). The group was known for songs such as “Bad Guy P” and “On Fire”.

He later went solo and released his debut EP, Patience, in 2014. Over the years, he has worked with international names including reggae legend Buju Banton and American rapper Wale.

He also has strong ties to the Ghanaian music scene. He featured on Stonebwoy’s “Hotter Fire”, one of his notable collaborations with a Ghanaian star.

Efya: One of Ghana’s Finest Voices

Efya, also known as Efya Nokturnal, is widely regarded as one of the strongest vocalists in Ghanaian music. Her career spans more than a decade of hit songs, award wins and collaborations with top acts across Africa.

She has remained active in the music scene, most recently appearing on songs such as Ugly Dray’s “Dream, Deals & Adel”.

Reactions From Fans and Colleagues

Congratulatory messages have poured in since videos of the ceremony went viral. Media personality Afia Pokua, popularly known as Vim Lady, was among those who publicly celebrated the singer.

“I’m so happy for Efya,” she wrote on Facebook, adding that her “clapback victory and triumph is worth celebrating. I love this for her.”

Many fans have also hailed the union as another strong bond between Ghana and Nigeria and a love story that crosses borders.

What’s Next for the Couple

With the traditional rites completed, attention now turns to the white wedding, which is scheduled to take place today, Saturday, November 7, 2026. Details of the venue and guest list for the white wedding have not been officially released.

For now, Efya and Tomi Thomas are basking in love and well wishes from fans across Africa. Halmblog congratulates the couple on their marriage and will bring you more updates as the celebrations continue.
